On their own as CPU vs CPU

And if the 3100 is on a 266VIA mobo and the 2500 is on nforce2 mobo

Let me guess - the ECS L7VMM3, with the AMD Pro3100A CPU? 😉

I hate to burst your bubble, but it's not what it's cracked up to be at all. See the thread in Motherboards here. Basically, it's a rebadged Athlon XP-M 1900+ - actual clock speed, 1600MHz. Thoroughbred core. The motherboards themselves are also seriously unbalanced.

Bottom line being - the Barton 2500/nForce2 combination will utterly massacre the Pro3100A/VIA. It won't even be a competition in the slightest.

that's not a combination that even makes sense. anyone want to post a thread asking if the a64 3400 clawhammer beats the amd 2000+ palamino?
