Question AMD 2700x vs 3700x - price difference is 29% - Waiting your suggestions

I live in Turkey so prices are based on Amazon Turkey.

First system costs me : 632$

Second system costs me : 816$

Third system costs me : 773$

So the first system is

MB : ASUS TUF B450M-PRO GAMING AMD B450 AM4 DDR4 4400

RAM : Corsair 64GB(2x32) D4 3600Mhz CMK64GX4M2D3600C18

CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 2700X


Second system is

MB : ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS AMD B550 AM4 DDR4 4400

RAM : Corsair 64GB(2x32) D4 3600Mhz CMK64GX4M2D3600C18

CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3700X


Third system is

MB : MSI B450 Tomahawk Max Am4 Ddr4 3466

RAM : Corsair 64GB(2x32) D4 3600Mhz CMK64GX4M2D3600C18

CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3700X


I am tending to prefer first system as I believe there wont be 29% performance difference

I am heavily in multi-threading e.g. machine learning algorithms not pc gaming

By the way I own HPC-750-B12S PSU and I believe it would work with the new system as well right?

I also have Noctua NH-D14 and with a kit it says I can use it. Should I buy that kit or unnecessary?

So far what I read that overclocking is not really beneficial in 2700x or 3700x

well usually the frameworks i use are based on cpu

moreover I do other tasks as well such as VMware and NOX app player and other many things at the same time

I had filled my 32gb ram in the past that is why targeting 64gb with this upgrade

If nothing else, if you intend to pile on the RAM, then you'll want Zen2's memory controller, it's a LOT more robust than Zen1/Zen+. Go for the 3700X, whatever you choose.

If there's a particular framework or application you run it might be worth looking specifically for benchmarks with those since there are a lot of cases where a 3700X isn't worth the ~20% cost increase and others where it will perform better than the cost increase.

Unless you need to upgrade right now, it might be worth holding off until more of the new Zen 3 CPUs come to market. Either they'll provide a better performance/cost benefit over the older processors or they'll drive down the cost of those CPUs, so either way you stand to benefit.

The gain from 3600 is about 20%, so in line with the price increase. Depends on whether you need the extra performance I suppose.

Indeed. If you buy those Corsair sticks, you won't get them working @ DDR4-3600 on a 2700x.

FWIW a 5600x and 3700x will have similar MT performance. 5600x will be faster in ST. 5600x is harder to get right now, though, and B450 support for it will be spotty. Also do not get a B450 board unless you are sure it's flashed to a new enough UEFI to run whatever chip you buy.

You said that VMWare and, machine virtualization is important to your workflow. For that, there just is not a substitute for having more real cores and threads. I highly suggest that you stick with eight core processors.
Given that you said that most of your work is on the CPU, having a PCIe 4.0 link to the GPU won't be as important. Also, having PCIe 4.0 to the first NVME brings very little gain right now.

Unless you can identify a specific reason that the B550 board in system 2 has a feature that you absolutely must have, I would choose System 3. I would not choose system 1 unless I absolutely had to buy a system now and it was all that I could afford. My main points of focus there are the lower performancef the 2700x and the questionable memory performance that you will have, especially if you need to upgrade your memory later. It is quite likely that your 2700x won't be able to run 4 sticks of 32GB of ram of ANY quality above DDR-3000 speeds with poor timings under the best of conditions. Virtualization loves RAM. You want to be able to run as much of it as you can as quickly as you can
