I just recently built myself a system. It has the 2600 mobile, abit nf7-s v2, and ocz 3500 2.5-2-3-11, right now, core voltage is 1.65 with 200x12. I have a zalman al-cu flower heatsink on it with artic silver 5. My power supply is an antec 430 true power. My ambient case temp is 35C and idle the cpu is 50C. My case has 2 120mm fans. I can't figure out how to get the temperature down.

CNPS7000A-Al-CU should be a good enough heatsink to overclock this setup to 2.4 or at least 2.2.

Yes, with the fan turned all the way up, Zalman says it will cool an XP3200, which is 11x200. But it's not going to cool anywhere near as well with the fan on the low setting.

I have the fan on the high setting and i was running it at 11x200 not 12x200 like I stated. What are generally good temps that I should be aiming for? Is a case temp of 33C about average? I am thinking I need to reset the heatsink but I am almost 100% positive I set it correctly.

Well, what temp were you running under full load? Also, you know that Abit boards read a bit high, temp-wise, don't you? IIRC, as much as 8-10°C higher than other boards. And I can't tell you what you should be running with that heatsink, because I've never owned a Zalman heatsink, nor will I ever. BUT, I would guess, with your cpu fan on high, that it should idle around 44-45°C on an NF7-S. I would pull your heatsink off and reinstall it, just to make sure that isn't your problem, because idling at 50°C is too high, IMO.

Hmm... I don't have a Zalman, but I also have an Athlon 2600+ mobile. I have it overclocked to 217x11.5 (about 2.5Ghz) at 1.7-1.75 core voltage according to MBM (I think it's set at 1.725 in BIOS). I'm using the ALX-800 heatsink with a panaflo U1A, and 3 system fans. Currently downloading using Azureus and running a few other apps and it's at 37C, case temp at 26C. Under load I think it maxes out at 49C for the CPU. I'm not familiar with the Zalman, but did you try remounting?

Also... does an ABIT mobo really read temps a bit high? I also have the NF7-S.

Your temps are fine no matter if you're reading the diode or socket temp. You don't need to do anything at all except enjoy 2.4 Ghz of Barton goodness :D
