Bought this 4 days ago from Monarch Computers. Evaded sales tax (in Cali) and received free Fedex 2nd day shipping! The stepping was AQXEA 0330 XPMW. I got this up and running in my Asus a7n8x deluxe without problems. Buy now!!

fyi: looks like this is OEM ("Heatsink & Fan sold separately")

just thought i'd point it out since it isn't clearly marked on the site unless you scroll down.

StayPuff, your 1700+ is oc'd to like 2075MHz/2500+ or so which is really pretty fast. It depends on if you want more cache or if you're fine with the current amount. Most people OC this to 2.2Ghz/3200+, which is only a bit more clock than your CPU.

For me, I wish I had decided to switch boards before deciding to just get a 1700+ to OC. Kinda late now; I woulda sprung for a 2500+.

Yea -- sounds like I'll stay put for the time being then -- they're only gonna get cheaper (for awhile -- until they become rare like 1-2 years from now if/when 64 bit computing takes over...)

Great price. Their reseller rating is above 9.

However, Newegg has them for $85 with free shipping too. Newegg might be a better deal for existing Newegg customers - no need to register with a new vendor. Or choose a retail CPU with a 3-year warranty and a HSF/fan for only $7 more.

My AQXEA goes up to 2.2 on 1.625V, 2.5 on 1.75V using either the stock AMD HSF or Thermaltake SilentBoost.

Nice deal. I paid about $92 from Newegg around 6 weeks ago.

Brad

Umm . . . .you got the retail version I think. For the OEM at newegg.com it's only $85 (plus tax for cali or NJ), so newegg is still king.

what are the pro/cons of running this processor (with an FSB of 333) with PC2100 memory...is it worth the price to upgrade to PC2700/PC3200 (I am running 1.5 GB of generic PC2100 memory now with an 2400 Tbred)?

Not exactly sure how the memory clock cycles run with the processor clock cycles...

I believe it will be worth the upgrade since you want to be running your cpu and memory in sync. Upgrade to pc2700 at least to match the 333 fsb. I just did and performance increased 100%

However newegg has been a little shady latley. Sending out used products as new, not responding to e-mails. I hope its only a small problem they get worked out, but people might want to put aside being fanboys for a bit and be careful

I haven't heard anything about Newegg being shady recently...

Any links that substaniate this claim?

Two things to add to this thread:
1) I got this chip from Monarch a few days ago, it arrived well-packed and quickly. I installed it with a Silent Boost. Unfortunately, my Chaintech 7NJS doesn't seem to let me take the multiplier above 12.5, and my PCI devices were unhappy about the FSB being pushed up, so I'm limited by that at the moment. At 1.7V I hit 2.4GHz but set it down to 2.25 so I could run my memory at 2-5-2-2.

2) I also just got a new case from NewEgg. It shipped quickly enough but was packaged only in its normal box and styrofoam. It was pretty beat up on arrival and actually cracked a little in one corner. Of course, this is not necessarily NewEgg's fault, but it does make me wish I had ordered from someplace like XPCases, which double-boxes their cases. Just a caveat...

Sure no prob. Let me add this: I am not on a newegg witch hunt. I'm just a little concerned. I myself am having some RMA problems right now, and they are not responding to me, and not acting on the things they have told me on the phone the would. I'll include my own post describing it.

Person recieving multiple refurb mobos bought and paid for as NEW. Newegg not responding

Another defective mobo problem

More problesm, with a few fanboy comments

My own post

I don't think this is cause for everyone to get super upset, and I do not mean it to be. I am obviously peeved at newegg but I hold out a bit of hope that everything will turn out well. I'm not slandering newegg and i'm not saying they are a bad company, all I am saying to people is to watch out, check your fanboy crap, and be careful.
