What's the difference between an AMD 2500 XP & MP CPU?

What's Intel's CPU equivalent to this CPU?

From what I've read, it seems motherboards for AMD CPUs comes with a non Intel chipset. Is there a motherboard for AMD CPUs (any make) with Intel chipset?

I'll be using this AMD CPU mainly for amateur home video editing and sound and normal applications like MS Words and so on.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
 
MP just means that AMD guarantees the chips will work in an SMP setup, dual CPUs. The XP chip should be exactly the same but isn't supported for SMP support. You'll probably want to go for the less expensive 2500 XP.

P4 equivalent would be a 2.5GHz P4...

No, sorry, it will be the day when Intel makes a chipset for AMD, lol. It does stink that AMD systems aren't as strong as intels if only because intel chipsets are so damn good. Well some would have to say AMD is one better thanks to nVidia and the nForce/nForce2 and coming nForce3. If you get a 2500 XP, you'll definately want to put it in an nForce2 powered motherboard.

Har har, Intel chipset for Athlon CPU?!?! This will never happen, Intel would not promote the chips of the competition.
