Hi all i need some suggestions on making my new rig. I know i want to OC to 3200 but i don't know what components to use.
I'd like to know what components would be the BEST BRAND/MODEL to build it with

1) motherboard
2) memory (512mb pc 3200)
3) fan (stock? or something else)

Best recommendation and expirences please let me know thanks.

2.Mushkin level II or Corsair XMS PC3200 (Kingston HyperX is nice, also)
3.Thermalright SLK 900a

Shady knows what he's talking about, Dan.

Putting together the same rig. From reading posts here at AT I am going with the following:
1) NF7-S
2) Buffalo PC-3200 (everyone says this works fine for a fsb oc)
3) Thermalright SLK 900A

Yep, the jury is out Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe overclock.

1) DFI LanParty B (overclocks the best, certainly beats the NF7-S)
2) Corsair XMS3200LL TWINX v1.1 or Mushkin PC3500 Level II
3) Zalman CNPS-7000A

I have two NF7-S V2.0 right now. I have to say they offer the best value in price and performance, but the LanParty B by fars surpasses it. LanParty B is on sale at newegg.com right now.

Wait if you want the best heatsink for your CPU you want to get the Thermalright SP-7. Ive read quite a bit of reviews on it and it performs better than the slk's. Ive just ordered one off of newegg a couple of hours ago so Im quite happy. Also get some Arctic Silver 5 to go with all those components.

This is what I have: link to Antec SLK-3700AMB at newegg. I love it, and have no plans to replace it, ever.😀 Oh, it does only come with one 120mm fan, though, so you'll have to spend another $10 for a 120x25mm fan. The 38mm deep 120's won't fit into the fan mounts, so make sure you check the dimensions on any 120mm fan you buy.

I'm doing pretty much exactly the same thing. here's what I went with after lots of research.
NF7-S (Lanparty might be a little better, but not enough to spend half again as much money.)
HyperX PC4000 ram. (Probably should have gone with PC3500, but I got a good deal on mine.)

Heatsink I'm waffling between the SLK-900A and the SP-97.
the 97 has heatpipes, but I hear they don't do much, and the pipes actually impede the airflow, negating any positive effects.
I think it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other. they're both nice heatsinks.

for case I'd go with Antec Sonata.
I love mine. 😀
It's whisper quiet, 380 watts of power, and pretty swanky looking.
It's not huge though, so if you're ever thinking about watercooling or 10 drives, look elsewhere. heh.
but I love mine. I expect it to last me a long time.

and yeah, get a 120 blowing in the bottom front and one blowing out the top back, or the top.
Best cooling configuration around.

Ok, I'll bite. I'm just lurking in this forum b/c I'll be building a system within the next month. Why is everyone lauding the NF7? I looked at Anand's review of it and the only thing I can figure is that it has more options in the bios. Is this correct or am I missing something? I was thinking that the Asus A7N8X would be the better way to go, but after seeing so many posts mentioning the Abit motherboard, who knows!?

Because we answer questions all day long from people who have a Asus A7N8X, and are having a hard time getting it to go more than a few mhz above 200fsb, even though they bought PC3700 ram. And alot of those questions get answered by someone who's running their NF7-S at 220+ fsb (that's a 440fsb, on an Athlon). Who wouldn't recommend a better board, that costs less?😀

Im with the rest of these people:

Motherboard - NF7-S
Memory - Mushkin Level II or Corsair XMS
Heatsink - I have the Thermaltake Volcano 11 and I havent had any cooling issues even with OC'ing.

As for a case, I bought this when it first came out and I love it to death:
