Well things may soon start to hot up (but cool down I hope) in the processor industry. As with most things, compatition is always good because it keeps people driving down prices and pushing forward with the technology. It can really only mainly benifit the consumer :)

hahah .18 micron get with the program Fkloster, the .13 micron Thouyroughbred has been out for some time. The Athlon palomino core maxed out at 1.73 ghz. What about cache level? Are these bartons? I wouldnt bet on that or the FSB increase! I would love to see the Barton come out with 333 fsb and 512k. The 2400+ and 2600+ will be very competive even without the FSB increase, but with a 333fsb the new Athlons would surely dominate the 2.53B.

IT is interesting that there is so much hoopla over the 333fsb since there isn't a chipset that offically supports it, but the KT400 is coming out soon as well. HMMMMM.............................

Well if they get their bugs worked out that would be nice. Wonder if this is why the XP2200's sky has fallen out :D

If I can find a Really good Stable MB will switch to Intel anyway ;)

Awesome!

I hope this is true, AMD needs to stay competitive, they are losing too much money. Hopefully they can get Hammer out for Christmas in limited quantities.

That is interesting on the backing up of the pr rating...I agree it appears with the 2200+ and the overclocked 2380+ at tomshardware that the amd pr rating was starting to skew a bit to the p4 speed....66mhz was buying a 100 pr points at a time and though it is certainly amd's position that it is related to a tbird most ppl agree they use it in conjunction with intel p4 and sorry but the processor doesn't scale that well compare to the p4...

PLus let us not forget the p4 has had major changes from .13micron, 533fsb and 512kb of l2 cache...I mean we all saw the increase in performance in benches of same speed willamettes versus orthwoods and the close to 10 percent increase...and then we see the 533fsb has a good little boost versus the 400fsb and it makes it all come together why a 1800+ trounced a p4 2.0ghz willamette yet currently it appears a 2380+ wont beat a 2.4ghz p4b....

I think amd will release one at a time like they have always done....but who know they have definitley let the bottom fall out of their chips and have room for 2 chips priced above 2200+ and keep it 300 or less...

Yea clock throttling sucks the big one. I mean... I for one dont want my processor to save itself when its about to die due to overheating. I mean, when you accidentally overheat/overclock it too much/heatsink fell off, you deserve to have your processor die.
