AMD 2100+ XP ON PRICEWATCH...

$315! wow...AMD prices seem to get higher and higher (launch prices) hope they don't turn out like intel and start introducing products around $500

Don't worry, the price will come down. Plus, you want the 2200+, not this one. The 2200+ will use the Thoroughbred core🙂

Actually you may want the 1800+ with the Thoroughbred core and then overclock it easily to the 2200+ equivalent speed.

I'm forced to agree... the 1.6a is the hot chip right now... however, I really hate how Intel obseletes 90% of chipsets and motherboards every time a new core comes out. There's a good chance that the new thoroughbred Tbird will still continue to work with motherboards manufactured over a year ago.

LOL 😀

The AthlonXP 2100+ will put a P4 1.6A to shame, my Athlon 1.2 would be closer 😀

1.6A=Northwood core/512k L2 cashe/0.13micron core/S478

<< Think before you type young grasshopper.

His 1.6a is running at 2800 mhz. It will crush any Athlon on the market.
>>

Thats my point, you need to overclock it to come anywere near the performance of a Athlon 2100+

1.75Ghz againest 2.8Ghz, dream on man

i got my xp1900 runnin @ xp2200
148x12
not sure whether amd are gonna release the xp2200. if they do i hope they release it with a fsb of 166(ddr333)

<< Thats my point, you need to overclock it to come anywere near the performance of a Athlon 2100+ >>

Ha ha ha! How much is the 1.6a (with a practically guaranteed 50% OC) and how much is XP 2100+ currently going for?

Oh, and IDGAF if it's 1.733GHz vs. 2.8GHz. All that matters is which one gets my work done faster. If it also happens to be cheaper, then woo-hoo for me and my wallet! 😉

<< But you can also overclock the 2100+, and man they cost hell of a lot cheaper. >>

Exactly how much farther than 1.733GHz do you expect to get with OCing a 2100+? Especially with nice and quiet aircooling? If you have to watercool it, then you just made up your price difference 😉

That being said...when is the T-Bred 1800+ expected to hit retail? I'm dying to upgrade my 1500+ @ 1600MHz! More power!
Bet you thought I was going to be an Intel zealot! 😀

my xp1900 can hit xp2200 with air cooling - alpha 8045 with 2x 120mm phsat fans blowing directly on the the side of the hs.
lookin to get a water cooling solution from innovatek vsoon. thg got an xp2100 upto xp2400 no tecs! beat the northwood easy! god if only amd would increase their fsb to 166!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
