AMD 1GHZ T-bird $199

wow...time to get a tbird..but the amd mustang will be out this summer if you guys want to wait, its supposed to be faster than the G4 processor

Man, my (Classic) Athlon 750 retail bought this April for about $240 not looking like such a good deal anymore!

Arrggghhhh... i just bought one for $300 in retail box.
Hmmm... what's the current price for the 1Ghz T-bird retail?

Why would you want to buy a top of the line Processor and then stick it in a Generic MOBO? An ASUS A7V is around 130.00 and the new version without ATA100 is around 100.00 The stuff Tiger Direct sells for 70-80 bucks may not even support ATA66. I would re-think your purchase if finding a cheap solution is the only solution. Duron?

Soyo has a board around $100 which was reviewed by Anandtech in there motherboard section. It got a good review if I remember rightly.

Now I'm off to pricewatch!

I just boxed my 1GHZ 'Bird to go back to buy.com. Just under $300 for a retail CPU was good last week.

<< Yup - in anticipation of the pricedrop on the 14th or 15th... It's going to 182. >>

<< So I take it this place: http://www.lynncomp.com/shop3/ sells the CPU's with the price drop reflected already? >>

i imagine the prices will fall further once they're offically released, meaning we'll probably see 1ghz under $170

dammmmmnnnn that's cheap, Intel is soooo screwed 🙂 Looks like all my friends are getting 1ghz upgrades for christmas.

Despite all the lowered prices for the TBird 1 GHz, I still bought mine last week for $300 retail from Onvia (free shipping). Most of the OEM chips come with a 15 or 30 day warrantee while the retail versions carry a 3 year warrantee straight from AMD.

3 Year warranty? who fooking cares? 😉 By this time next year you will be able to get a 1.5 pollymini for about 175 bucks by next september so big deal about the 3 year warranty.😛
