AMD 1600+ operating temp

Just out of curiousity, what is the normal operating temperature of the AMD 1600+ with a good heatsink and fan ?

I have a Thermaltake Volcano 6Cu+ and my 1600+ is still hovering around 50 degrees Celsius.... that's pretty high ! hoooott stuff...

I have a Volcano 6cu on one my game boxes, its cooling a 1.1ghz t-bird @ 50c too. I think the volcano cooler just blows if your gonna overclock, these are high but still safe temps. Gonna put an alpha and athlon xp 1800 setup on it next week.😉

I have a 1900+ @ 11x166 (1833Mhz) vcore 2.09 and my load temps are about 30-33c and I idle at about 25c but then again im watercooling 😉

My 1600+ (not overclocked yet) is running 37 degrees C. right now.

I am using the 6CU with Arctic Silver II rather than the thermal pad it comes with.

There's more to temps than just the heat sink like thermal compound, air flow through your case, etc. Give us your setup and maybe some suggestions could be made. 50 degrees is a bit hot.

It's 50 with the case covers off.

And i'm using the arctic compound. I'm not sure why it's soo hot.

What kind of case are you using and what kind of case cooling? Having the sides off doesn't necessarily do much. Having the sides on with good airflow through the case will usually always be better. You may want to reapply your thermal compound and remount your heat sink also. You may have got some air pockets in there or are not getting good contact.

I got a 1600+ (at 1450, first time OCer, taking it slow) w/ a SVC Golden Gate 30 on a shuttle AK31A
Case temps is 25C (4 Fans, 2 Intake, 2 Outake, Currently only using 2, since its not that hot and the other two are off) CPU Temp is 38C, I think its ~41 when its full load

Using the Volcano7 on XP 1600+ 1500 mhz, at full load running seti@home for TeAm Anandtech(shameless plug), the temp stays at 47-48C all the time. The rare time it was not running seti, idle temp was ~40C. Kinda high but well within spec and if you are observing no problems or lock-ups BSOD etc.... dont sweat it........ 😉

Is your computer placed in a not-so-well ventalated area? Like in the corner of a wall or something?

The main rule of the thumb is, if you're not crashing...then you're temps are fine. I mean, who knows. Maybe your sensor is uncalibrated or something.

My 1600+ with a Volcano6 Cu runs around 46 C with a system temp of 31 C using generic thermal grease. I can't wait to slap some ASII and a Alpha PAL8045 with a Sunon fan on it... 🙂

Interesting... looks like some of you are experiencing the same high temperatures as me. The SUPER-loud fan just doesnt justify those temperatures.

Has anyone tried replacing the fan on the Volcano6 Cu ? which ones fit ?

The reason this is of concern is that i plan to o/c the thing just a bit.

A single 1600+ MP with a TaiSol CGK742092 4500RPM on an ECS K7S5A gives me 96 to 102F these days.

That's right. Some Americans use Fahrenheit! 😛
