I just built a system with an a7v133a mobo and the 1.2ghz tbird. Everything boots up and everything just fine, however when i run the Asus Probe util, it reads at around 55, (which i hear the asus probe reads higher temps). I have a stock fan, which i am going to replace with a Globalwin Cak38, which should take care of most of my heating problems (like when running videos, the temp goes up to 59,60). The question is, during games, like counter-strike, after playing it for a while, the screen freezes/hangs/turns into abstract art. At first i thought it was just the CPU overheating, but after reading some threads like this
, i'm beginning to think it might be some other problem?
Here are my specs.
asus a7v133a
amd tbird 1.2ghz
winfast geforce2 pro 64
sb live value
3com nic card

running windows xp rc1... cuz win2k wont detect either of my ATA100 HD's. XP runs fine, everything works, its just this heating thing and CS hanging. I know the A7v133 reads high, but how high, or low, should it be reading?

any ideas?

I got a similar post running...when you put in the 1.2...did it detect it as a 133FSB CPU assuming that is the kind of Athlon you purchased? I as well am beginning to think that this is a cooling issue. My A&V with a 1G tbird runs fine nad its temp is around 52-53...my 1.2 is showing temps in the 60's...FP

no it appeared as 900mhz like you said yours did, i had to change some settings. its not just Cs when it overheats... i can play some quicktimes and mpegs and it will jump from 55 to 60.

:(

hopefully my fan will come in soon. retail fan sucks.

I agree...Soldier of Fortune hangs etc...time for some more cooling...I'm gonna try running with the case open and see if that helps...FP

hey I saw your post in my other thread...the story behind this a7v133 is a long one but suffice it to say that a couple of things changed at once and then CS started behaving badly. The nic, modem and h/s fan changed more or less at once prior to that it seemed to be working ok as far as CS hang's amd other game related problems...CS is fussy at the best of times if you ask me (non-retail version I'm talking about) and to be honest I didn't really check the temps before all this started happening. I'm wondering if it is not so much teh CPU getting to hot but the other periphs in the board in that the inside of the case is too darn hot. I may change the fan and install two case fans to see if that helps things out...FP

hmmm i belive that even with xp you should install the via 4in1 and... use the newest ones, not the ones that came with your motherboard, i think the newest is 4.32
