So I went to an AMC theater last night while I was in Atlanta. I went to see the latest 007 movie with my dad (crappy movie BTW).
Anyway, I went to the concession stand and got raped by buying a $3.50 bottle of Dasani water (I expected this). I got the water and as I walked towards the theater, I decided to open it. Well, the cap just came right off. No plastic seal was broken as usually happens. I then noticed another strange thing. The water in the bottle seemed to be filled too high. So I went back to the counter and made an exchange for another bottle. This time the bottle opened with the right snap and twisting of plastic and the water level was where it was suppose to be.
Anyway, my guess is that AMC (and maybe others) are filling empty water bottles with tap water or worse yet, cleaning or not cleaning used ones, and are simply charging $3.50 for them. Makes typical greedy American business sense, doesn't it?
You might want to keep an eye out next time you buy bottled water.
