I am searching for ideas for my home office. I actually had a Christmas tree in the room over the holidays, and it had soft white LED lighting. With it gone I use my desk lamp which doesn't offer the same soft room flood of light that I am looking for. I would prefer something either wall mounted, or maybe something that can sit on top of my desk hutch up high.

LED desk lamps just don't offer the type of light I am looking for, and I have a dimmable ceiling fan light, but it too isn't what I am seeking. Anyone have any creative ideas of examples of what you use?

Wall torches. If that's too retro, use xmas lights. You said you liked the look. Tuck them away so they put out a diffused glow.

Mirrored twin-dragon candle sconces; you just can't go wrong with these.

What price point? Hard wired or corded? Search around on Amazon for warm LED sconce

I used led strip lights hidden under the bottom edge of a floating shelf over my desk. They stick to pretty much everything, are cheap, invisible, easy to install, and put off a nice warm light. Use 3000 degree lights, anything higher is to harsh.

Sconce lamps w/ edison bulbs. 40w or less. More of the firelight end of the spectrum. You'll need 3 or 4.

Maybe also a desk lamp directly behind the monitor, or hanging lamp over the seating area. Same style bulb.

Ceiling fan light here originally but we added [dimmable] hi-hats. Make sure you put in enough if you go this route. The ceiling fan light is woefully useless, just wanted it for the ceiling fan.

Got two salt lamps just for fun, one on the wife's desk and one on mine. Brighter than I thought, but I may put both of them up higher and see how I like it. Otherwise I found an LED light that changes color and can put that under the top of the hutch and see how it goes.
