Amazon's New Fire 7 Tablet - Still Clinging to 1GB RAM

Stupid amazon. They could raise the price by $5 and go to 2GB and it would be at least a halfway decent bargain tablet, but 1GB was crippling the previous generation and will cripple this one all the same.

I love the idea of a super cheap mainstream tablet, but I'd never buy one of these for $50 when Amazon's own Fire 8 tablet has 1.5GB of RAM for a few dollars more. That extra half gig makes a world of difference for performance.

I'm still using my Fire HDX 7" I'd never buy a tablet with a screen resolution that low anyways. Nothing Amazon sells now interests me...

I honestly don't care about the resolution as much as the RAM. I used a PC back in the day when 1280X960 on a 17" monitor was state of the art, so the res is fine for the screen size. I just want to be able to run apps with reasonable performance.

I wouldn't get a Fire tablet even if it was free. Their tablets are junk, dated designs with very poor software IMHO.

I'm absolutely flabbergasted at some of the decisions they've made recently. They made a $300 e-ink reader when they already have a fairly expensive $200 reader, but chase the bottom with their full fledged tablets? I don't understand their priorities, and I don't think they do either.

I doubt the failure of the fire phones and tablets would keep Jeff Bezos up at night...If he's even aware such devices exist in his company at all. The cost-profit ratio is so miniscule for these devices that they're only making them to fulfill some obligated contract.

I'm actually pretty irritated with this rush to keep upgrading mobile devices. Maybe design a mobile OS that doesnt friggen NEED 128 gigabytes of RAM?

HOW ABOUT THAT, DAVID!?? HOW ABOUT THAT?!

My daughter received a last gen one as a gift. I bought the $3/mo unlimited kids book service, which is nice. And the ability to lock it down and control when/how she can use it is great. My main problem isn't the RAM but the horrible lack of internal storage (hers doesn't have a memory slot). After the OS and random junk, there's only 5GB of available space which is totally ridiculous. A half dozen apps and a few books and I'm getting "out of space" errors.
