At least it's DRM free. Is there a site that offers albums for purchase that are encoded with a lossless format?

It's pretty pathetic companies are still avoiding lossless formats. It's not THAT much bigger.

right there

Those are just regular CDs right? I mean albums that you may purchase and download that are coded in a lossless format on the computer.

You can't exactly blame them... the demand for lossless music is relatively low.

Wow, I'm surprised how smooth it works. I previewed and then saved an MP3 in just a few clicks. Of course it helps that Amazon logged me in automatically and had my credit card information. They had some sort of application to download with, but when I refused it fell back to a simple browser download and made it sound like they won't bug me about that again.

I've never used a music service before, but I'd heard you often have to buy points or some crap like that (to reduce their number of credit card transactions or some bizarre reason like that). No sign of that here.

The impact of this will be a bit larger than what your post implies (you didn't say it, but that's how it came off)

It means that music is available with freedom to the user and since most don't really care for anything higher than 128-192 kbps mp3 files, it'll be great. Most people can tell the difference between 128 and 192, but anything else like 192 and 256 or beyond is a very minor difference for most people, not enough to care anyway.

Someone told me you get one free download for downloading their software, but I haven't checked up on this.

Site navigation SUCKS even worse than iTunes, and it looks like the selection is poor as well. It looks like it's easy to download something popular, but hard to find something obscure. Once I clicked on a genre, it's hard to get back to a list of genres.

Using it now. Was very easy to buy an album (2 clicks). I'm not a fan of the pop ups in my system tray every time a song starts/finishes downloading. Just tell me when it's all done.

good now an option for the odd song i want when its the only one on the album worth paying for. or the obscure overpriced albums...back catalog albums tend to cost more...

Anyone know if there's a way to re-download a song? I'm at work and forgot to put my new album on my iPod this morning. I'd like to download it here so I can listen today.

It's an interesting step in the right direction, but still not much competition for other services out there where you can purchase higher bitrates and better quality for less money......

I have to give them credit though, at least the stuff isn't riddled with DRM garbage.
