What are you? Freaking serious? If Amazon's a bad place to order online, perhaps you should buy everything at B&Ms. Amazon's one of 2 places online I buy all my crap from, the other is Newegg.com.
 
amazon is by far the best place to order things online, in terms of service and quality of shipping..
 
weird.. lol.. every1 is giving different answers.. so no1 can still explain the low ratings.. its as low as tiger direct
 
UPS lost my ROTK:EE DVD. Amazon is shipping me another one, free of charge, two-day air. It'll be here Wednesday, and I e-mailed them last Thursday.

You know why Amazon got low ratings? It's because of people like this one -

Very bad. I never had such a bad experience from online shopping.
I placed an order for Lexar CF. It was displayed as 'Usually ships within 24h'. When I finished the order, the e-mail notified as 'ship on Dec 15'. I ordered on Dec 10th. When I double-checked the site, still it is advertised as 'ships 24h'!!
At worse, it wasn't shipped until Dec 17th. Although Amazon told me the tracking #, it was incorrect.
I had several e-mail communication with customer support. But the support is very bad. They don't see my previous e-mail and always say 'you can track your package with provided tracking #'. But my tracking # is incorrect and they say they don't have correct one.
Finally, I requested refund because it was not delivered even Dec 27th. Today is Dec 30th but no deliver. I don't think they sent it to me.
I never buy from Amazon.

It ships in 24hrs if you live near a distribution center or selected next day delivery. Maybe it didn't come because you confused the hell out of the amazon.com customer service people and kept changing your order, you freak.

And then you have idiots who order stuff through amazon from another store, like this one -

Not a good experience at all. Ordered a book online through Borders Books. Book was listed as not yet released and would be shipped in late December. Found book same day in a local bookstore and purchased it. Went to cancel online order and found they had placed it in the 'shipping process queue' and was unable to be cancelled. How they can be shipping something they list as not even published yet is beyond me, even though the book had beeen out for a week or so. An email to Customer Service didn't get answered for 3 business days and stated that once something is listed as entering the shipping process, there is nothing that can be done. No 800 telephone contact ability.

How is it Amazon's fault when borders only hire incompetent grade school educated minimum wage slaves?
 
Everything I have bought from Amazon is from "Amazon.com." I don't like to buy through amazon at other places because shipping isn't free. 😀

Why their rating is low:

Small store: low number of customers, no "big name" expectations from customers, typically rated fairly.
Amazon.com/Buy.com/YourFatAssStore.com: large number of customers, "big name" expectations from customers, typically rated lower even though service is similar to small store.

The number of customers is a major component of the lower rating. Those that have a bone to pick with a "big name" reseller are likely to go to ResellerRatings.com or some place similarly. The same thing happens with the smaller stores but the key thing is that more customers satisfied with the smaller store will give it a good rating while most people who shop at a "big name" store will never think of leaving a positive rating at ResellerRatings.com (I think this is to be expected as smaller shops are more of a risk so the ratings are very useful while ratings for "big name" stores are practically worthless).

Often times Amazon.com takes too long to ship an item and so that's probably what the poor ratings come from. If I order from amazon I never expect the item to arrive on a timely manner.
 
I like Amazon's free shipping after $25, great for CDs and DVDs.Shipping is not the fastest but still arrives in a timely fashion. But the most important part is their no questions asked return policy, I would use Amazon even if the item is more expensive on their site just for their service.
 
amazon is great, i ordered the senergy714 lcd from them last week, with free 5-9 day shipping and i got the LCD in 2 days. works perfectly and there was excellent service
