Amazon treats different prime customers so differently, some at treated like garbage.

With the number of orders they send, I don't expect them to proactively catch every late shipment. You have to tell them about it, and every time I've notified amazon of anything they've handled it satisfactorily. On one occasion I was calling them about something that appeared to be late, but actually wasn't, and they still gave me a free month of prime.

I don't think I'd ever expect to get the item for free though. Even if I've heard "rumors" of people getting stuff for free I don't expect that to happen for me. The closest they ever came to that was when I ordered something extremely small and cheap that didn't work for my application, they just refunded me and told me to keep it. That made sense from a financial standpoint. I suppose in some cases it makes more sense to let you have a cheap item free than it does to give you a free month of prime too. I've got no idea how they determine that though.

So glad I gave up buying junk. I remember getting angry when I didn't get my packages on time. Lol. Now I honestly couldn't care less if it's a day late. It's just junk.

Meh, one issue ever for me - I ordered a pile of camera equipment for a trip I was going on. The photos I was taking relied on having all of that equipment, but I received a Canon remote actuator, instead of a Nikon. The only difference was a number on the box, otherwise the boxes were nearly identical. I don't even think "Canon" or "Nikon" were on the box. I contacted them, they overnighted the correct actuator, I returned the other. I was very pleased with the interaction.

While having 2 day shipping take 3 days, might not seem like a big deal, it is. It devalues prime for me. The point of prime is the free two day shipping, and cheap 1 day shipping. So when they ship in an item a day late, it devalues prime.

The biggest issue is their needs to uniformity when a package is shipped late or arrives late. One customer shouldn't get nothing more than meaningless apology, while another gets their item for free. It isn't right and fair.

Probably around 1/4 of my packages come late, and 99% of the time is Amazons fault. It could be because I usually order my stuff during the last hour or two of when you can to get it on time.

You push the envelope and then complain as a result:whiste:

Sounds like the same type of excuses when people get pulled over for speeding because they were late.

Time management avoids the need for excuses :colbert:

I've been a Prime member since the program's inception and can count the number of times they've shipped late on one hand. In those instances it does seem to be due to ordering too close to the cut off time…in which case I'm pretty meh on the delay given how consistently well they perform otherwise. Carrier delays are carrier delay, the few times I noticed a consistent problem they switched services.

I had a problem where my order was missing an item 11 or 12 years ago. They refunded the item since it was backorderd and couldn't get the item in.

Otherwise, no problems, I buy from them pretty regularly.

I don't expect them to know an item was late without me telling them, but when I call and inform them an item is late something more than an apology should be given. I have had items scheduled for Friday not show up until Monday, and rep offers me nothing, not even a free month.

Since started to be more vocal about wanting more than an apology, did they finally extend my prime for an extra month. Even when they were at fault for my late item.

Do you honestly expect them to have every single item you order to your house in two days? That's a lot to expect for $100. If they are hitting the target 90% of the time I'd say that's pretty impressive. There are big businesses placing orders for thousands of dollars or even millions and they don't even expect that.

I have had no issues. The worst experience I had was that I had to actually re-order a missing item myself and they gave me a code to use for free over night shipping. Normally when it has happened they just do it themselves.

Are you counting the days correctly?

The day you ordered is not counted as day 1. You know this right?

I've been a Prime member for several years and have never had a problem with Amazon's customer service.

Qwitcherbitchin!

Agreed.

Only issues I have had is when they ship via USPS (or UPS->USPS). The post office is government... they hire nothing but incompetent fuckheads. You honestly expect packages to be sorted/delivered on-time and depending on the post office/government?

I've had 3 packages lost, once it was back-to-back shipments that got lost at once. PO is clueless. I just go on Amazon.com web support and they ship me a new one the same or next day.

I always secretly hope the "lost packages" magically show up and I get two... but it never happens 🙁

When I lived in Seattle shipping was always on time. One order never arrived, they shipped another next day and then the first order arrived opened they just let me keep it all and still refunded me the original shipping.

In Dallas shipping was frequently late by a day and they dutifully refunded shipping charges but I never complained enough to get a free month or anything. I guess since I picked 1 day nearly every time it was just easier to refund. At one point their system recognized it was going to be a day late and automatically refunded the shipping, pretty clever.

Now, in San Jose, shipping is always on time or early. They also offer a lot of stuff on free same day which is insane. A few times when my wife and I had errands to do we've looked up stuff on Amazon, ordered it in the morning and when we got home it was there. One less errand to run that day. It is kind of insane, not sure how they can offer same day delivery on so many things for $100/yr.

Of course if I ordered on the Amazon site but not from Amazon then it is a total crapshoot, I try to avoid that if I can but I can't always do it.

The main problem I've had with them is doing one-click check out and eventually finding out that something is shipping from fucking Hong Kong. Bitch please. If you're going to have vendors who ship from the other side of the world via sea turtle, at least tell me that up front.

But I have to admit that for everything else they've been very accommodating when it comes to vendors who mislead you with their ads or sell you crap. I've only had to file a couple complaints over the past few years but they've always taken my word for things and given me immediate credit.

Plus I definitely make out with the 2 day shipping. I order enough from them that it comes out to maybe a couple of bucks per shipment. For bigger items, that can pay for itself very quickly. I'll occasionally order from other vendors but only when there is a significant price difference and for specialty items like say a 2P server board.

the part of that story that intrigues me the most is the zip ties. what were you going to do with those, huh?
Zip ties (if you know what they are) can be used for all sorts of things- from cleaning up your wiring in your computer to cleaning up loose wires running all over the place!!

Amazon also treats its employees like shit not just prime customers http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/16/t...stling-big-ideas-in-a-bruising-workplace.html

Ehh, people gonna do the least they can get away with. Indeed, at places like UPS it is not uncommon to be threatened for working too hard.
