7 business days for them to ship out my item.

Ouch. Guess I should pay the 7 bucks next time, that'll show me.

They tell you when you're ordering how slow it is. I think of it as a game...I order something and then 10 days later I've forgotten about it so it's a surprise!

Yeah, I know. It's not a complaint so much as a "Huh...wow. Really?"

It's free for a reason. Super Saver = Low priority in their systems.

Yeah, they make it seem like super saver shipping is just a great deal on shipping, but they don't make it very obvious that they'll wait until the next time Haley's comet comes by to ship out the stuff -- to be delivered by a guy riding a donkey from California to your house.

Just depends on the product. If it's a pair of headphones that weigh 2 pounds and the shipping is $5-$10 then it's no big deal to pony up a few extra bucks.

But if I'm getting something like a 500 pound stainless steel grill or a 50" TV then I don't mind saving $150 in shipping and can live with the few extra days of waiting.

I've had super saver shipping get items to me in 1-2 days if it is in state and by USPS. Although the last game I ordered took 5 days by USPS for some odd reason.

Man, you haven't seen anything until you've had the wait time on a set of Screaming Monkeys going through FedEX Snail Mail POS whatever that service is called (The one with the snail picture on woot)

Or pay $70/year for 2day shipping on everything you buy there (aka Amazon Prime). I'm honestly considering it because I did a lot of Christmas shopping there last year. I also tend to buy several groceries that aren't sold locally, books, movies, and some games.

With rising gas prices, and thus rising shipping costs, it might be prudent to just bite the bullet and get Amazon Prime. The thing that keeps me away is the up front cost and the fact that most of the stuff I mentioned above, I can easily wait 2 weeks to receive it.

Oddly, Amazons super saver shipping has never taken more than 7 days to ship me anything I've ordered. Guess I'm just lucky.

I dont mind the slow transit time, what pisses me off is that they just sit on the orders for spite.

Want proof? I ordered using Super Saver shipping recently. They told me it would arrive on June 30. Here was part of the tracking info:

June 24, 2008 08:36:00 PM WARRENDALE PA Shipment has left seller facility and is in transit
June 27, 2008 10:18:00 PM WARRENDALE PA Arrival Scan

Now Warrendale is only about 15 miles from me. When I saw they shipped from there on June 24, I figured I'd have it the next day. Three days later, it goes back to where it shipped from? What were they doing, driving around the block for three days?

I did receive it on June 30, exactly when they said I would, but I cannot understand how it took 6 days after "shipment" to get the 15 miles to me.

They probably throttled it so that you have an incentive to spend more on faster shipping. Can't exactly blame them. The free shipping was quoted upfront to take long and they did just that.

it's super saver because its free shipping, not fast shipping. if it was called super fast then you might have a reason to bitch.

oh, and repost.

Yep, same here. I understand when you get free shipping they are going to ship it using the cheapest and slowest methods, but it ticks me off that they also intentionally hold your order back and don't ship it as quickly.

LOL at the people complaining about free shipping.

Cheers to those that say "suck it up an deal with it".

I have no problem with it. My order arrived exactly when they said it would. I just thought it was strange that they said it shipped when it really did not.

i get my stuff in 2 days usually :D

why do people think they hold packages out of spite? it's certianly possible, but I can't see how it is in anyone's best interest to do that. when you pay for the lowest priority possible, thats what you are going to get, and sometimes that means your package sits idle while others get the attention?

I have Prime. It's awesome. And since I live in Seattle (where one of their fulfillment centers is located) I get a lot of stuff next day.

I had prime, but I don't use amazon nearly enough to justify the cost. Regularly using 2day shipping would save me money.

I use super saver to save money. Until my last order it has always been pretty quick. But this time around, they actually are taking the full time to ship/send my item. I sent the order 2 weeks ago and now it's just left. I'm in no rush or I woulda sprung for faster shipping, but it surprised me (Not upset me, just suprised me since it's usually been quick in the past).

This. Prime was so worth it. Even just using the free shipping Amazon's always been pretty quick most of the time, never 7 days. Must be my area.
