Not asking to break the but find 3rd party options that allow a loophole to not have to pay it legally!!! If I don't have to pay 7% on a $1000 TV and do so legally I won't! Now big purchases I would have got through amazon ill just buy in a neighboring tax free state.

Plus when you buy parts for use by a business you are tax exempt to begin with! So with amazon taxes were always a moot point. Now with the new law it's going to be an issue. I'm not looking to break the law at all. I'm trying to find a legal loophole.

I love this county and all the good and bad about it, but sometimes things are so convoluted and complex it's impossible for the average person to figure out without legal consul! I was just asking for advise and if anyone else ran into this issue.

You don't seem to understand. You still owe the 7% tax. The company you are buying it from just isn't withholding and remitting it to the state. YOU STILL OWE THE TAX.

And I don't know what you are talking about with the business. Businesses pay sales tax like anyone else. They do not have to pay sales tax on something they are buying to resale, which is completely different, because they are collecting sales tax when they sell it.

You owe the tax in any situation you can come up with. It just depends who collects it, the seller on the states behalf, or you when you file your taxes.

I have used amazon through the years to order all sorts of parts, games, software, and many other things with free shipping, a great return policy, and of course zero sales tax. These new laws effecting sales tax is getting ridiculous. I order online versus buying in stores to save those hundreds and hundreds of dollars on that tax.

So my question is, how do I avoid, get around, or figure out a way to NOT have to pay this new sales tax being applied to my normal orders? There has to be a method to avoid this completely asinine issue.

This applies to NJ but also many other states across the country.

OP, exactly how many "hundreds and hundreds" of dollars do you pay yearly?

In my experience, those who cry the loudest about taxes are the ones who pay the least!

Oh yeah, if you don't want to pay "Amazon" sales tax, just drive to a B&M store & get your stuff.
On top of sales tax, you will have to pay for gas also! (Not to mention possibly paying more per item as Amazon is typically cheaper for me on most everything I order from them!)

I'm not sure that I understand the concern expressed here about the OP paying sales tax.

I mean we live in a country where former former federal senator and former Democratic New Jersey governor, John Corzine, lost (i.e. stole) $1.6 billion dollars from his customers.

When called to testify before Contress about the missing 1.6 Billion Dollars, Corzine stated " “I simply do not know where the money is

The sentiment here seems to be if you skip your Amazon sales tax, then you are a criminal. If however, you are a former politician, you can steal 1.6 billion dollars and not get charged with anything...

Very curious.

You do know the day you are sworn into the government you are given a license to steal right?

Because some people are assholes and thieves, we can all be assholes and thieves. Kk, you stop paying all your taxes on "principle", then get back to me on how that goes.

Or just avoid paying the ones you think you can get away with because you're THAT "principled".

Business's do not avoid sales tax on items they purchase for their own use.

Sales tax exemptions only apply on items then end up being resold.

Purchase a case of water bottles - taxed
Purchase a case of water bottles - given to customers - taxed
Purchase a case of water bottles that are resold to customers - not taxed - customers pay the sales tax.

Regarding your question, not paying all of their taxes doesn't see to be a problem for these federal employees:
"...... tax offenders include employees of the U.S. Senate ... They owe $2.1 million. Workers in the House of Representatives owe $8.5 million, Department of Education employees owe $4.3 million and over at Homeland Security, 4,697 workers owe about $37 million. Active duty military members owe more than $100 million

... the Postal Service, with more than 600,000 workers, has the most offenders (25,640), who also owe the most -- almost $270 million. Veterans Affairs has 11,659 workers owing the IRS $151 million while the Energy Department ... has 322 employees owing $5 million."

What is that about a half billion in unpaid taxes? While the government doesn't seem to have a problem with this half billion in unpaid taxes, you have a problem with the OP wanting to avoid his Amazon sales tax?

There is a difference between having one bad politician and having a different set of rules for politicians and other people with political influence.

Again, regarding your question, not paying all of their taxes doesn't seem to have been a problem for these 36 Obama aides either. 36 Obama aides owe $833,000 in back taxes

I've just presented a few facts that demonstrate how those with political influence don't have to obey the same tax laws as you or I.

Sorry if those facts upset you.
