Amazon "Release Date Delivery"

So, I decided to pre-order Killzone 3 a little... late.
Tomorrow is release day. But dammit, $20 free Amazon bucks for a future purchase, plus the pre-order bonuses, I'm okay with actually not getting the game tomorrow.

However, on the order form, I see "Release Date Shipping." And on the order page, it says I'll get the item tomorrow.
There is no mail today. Fedex and UPS are open though.

On the order page, "Release Date" delivery is about $1.
One-day delivery is about $10.

Can I really expect to receive the game tomorrow for $1? Or hell, receive it Wednesday for $1 shipping?

son of a bitch.

I just refreshed the order page - Release Date delivery is gone.
And what's this? One Day shipping is showing delivery on the 24th. WTF?
You would think, at worst, One Day would be the 23rd, if I ordered it right now.

Screw it, even for $10 shipping, the no-tax part makes it work pretty close to buying it in store. And I get $20 for future amazon purchases, and I get 3 unlock points and two Killzone2 maps.
I'm gonna do it. Wonder why, in 20 minutes, release day shipping disappeared. Oh well. My fault for even waiting this long. The date just leaped on me, hardly realized it.

It disappeared because there is a deadline for them to get it out the door.

For the record though, any time I have opted for release date delivery, it is in my mailbox when I get home on the day of release, without fail.

I couldn't tell you the last time I bought a new release in a B&M store. Amazon has to many perks, especially with Prime.

I got release date shipping in the past and amazon never failed. I usually ordered a few weeks in advance. I have heard horror stories, but I haven't experienced any.

Well, I backed out of the order, emptied the cart, and went through the process again.
Release Date Delivery was an option yet again.

$0.99

Well, here's to a fair gamble. Will I get it tomorrow? The receipt page even said I'd receive it tomorrow. :hmm:

Sweet, I totally just ordered it with release date delivery. I had been thinking about getting it with the $20 credit and just selling it once I finish single player. This made the decision even easier.

Amazon.com uses UPS...at least they have for all of my prime shipments....

They use whatever is cheap and has a PROBABLE MEANS of getting there on a specified date. the first item i ordered with prime was shipped from Nashua NH via Fed Ex. That is around 30 or 40 miles from where I live. I thought, "hell yeah, this will be here next day". Next day, it says it was dropped off for distribution at a USPS facility about 5 miles away from me. It took another week for it to get to me.

I'm going to be totally shocked if I actually get the game tomorrow. Overnight shipping for a dollar? wut
I so hope I get it tomorrow, but I won't be disappointed if I don't. Here's to hoping it just doesn't turn into "Super Saver Shipping" and I don't get it until next week.

Amazon is pretty amazing. For COD Black Ops, I didn't preorder it until around 8pm the night before it released. I chose release date delivery and it was waiting at my door when I got home from work the next day.

This gives me hope. Dammit, I was quite content with no real expectations. 😛

I had my raven 02 overnighted w/prime for 3.99

and it was indeed here at 10am the next day. shipping estimate w/o prime was 88 bucks......that alone made this year of prime worth it

I have ordered plenty of games with release date delivery the night before release.

Amazon has never failed me. It really amazed me at first but now I take it for granted...

I have prime and JUST ordered it with free release day shipping and they say I'm going to have it tomorrow, we shall see!

Got mine this morning. Sweet!

UPS always delivers real late to my neighborhood, unless the order is specifically for the more premium Overnight Shipping option that stipulates before 11am.

I noticed on UPS's website using the tracking number, it states "deliver by 3pm", but then there's the finer print that says "or by end of day for residential addresses".
Well, that means I'll get the typical 5 or 6pm delivery most likely.

One day I had two packages arrive in the mail through UPS (may have been Fedex, can't recall now), both were shipped Overnight from two different merchants. One merchant had one version of Overnight, the other merchant had the more premium version (so one had stipulations to be delivered by 11am, the other had no "deliver-before" stipulations). I received each package on a different delivery truck, one before 11am, the other toward the end of the day. I was like... really? Really? Y'all are bitches.

Dinnertime, that's the typical delivery schedule for anything at my house using either carrier.

Mine may not make it for release day delivery 🙁 I wonder what weather or natural disaster happened around 2am between MD and KY?

I ordered de blob 2 yesterday around noon with my free prime shipping(it released today) and here it is in hand as of 2 hours ago

For some reason mine made it even through the snow.

I got 1 email and 2 text messages stating my package would be delayed at least 1 day. A few hours later UPS showed up with the package.

Go figure...

Really high winds that night. Louisville is the main hub for UPS flights.
