Anyone else noticed that? As a price member, on the shipping page the 1st option is standard shipping, with a note saying that I will get 1 dollar towards ebooks and music and so on if I choose that option. I can still choose the 2 day shipping as usual.

I just bough something and choose the standard, I was in no hurry!

yeah, I actually like it.

I have to have stuff delivered to my parents house, so I only pickup packages once/week typically. if I buy something on Tuesday that I'm not going to pickup until Sunday, may as well get the credit and buy a cheap book.

This only works out to be a benefit to the consumer if you're already going to purchase a book. Otherwise, all it does is successfully incentive you to spend money you otherwise wouldn't have spent within that magical 30 day coupon window.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great little play on human psychology, but it's manipulative advertising to make Amazon and their partners money - not a service to you.

At least it's an option. Didn't used to be

I paid for Prime primarily for the 2-day shipping, so I'm damn well going to use it. I don't place enough single orders in a month for me to accrue more than $5 or so in credit, and I'd probably forget to spend it at the end of the month anyway.

Fair enough - this much is true.

You'll have to forgive me, I spend a lot of my day fighting to show people the ways they are being manipulated into spending money. Over time it has jaded me more than a bit.

well, yeah.

obv. I wouldn't go for it if I wasn't already a regular buyer of e-books and digital music.

I did not know about the 30 day deal either. Def not choosing that option anymore. I thought I can stack them and buy a book or two during the year.

I'd use it if it was more like 180 days to a year or something. I buy books often for my Kindle... but 30 days, eh probably not going to built up anything meaningful.

I'm too lazy to google. Can anyone post a link to the 30 day expiration?

I've gotten like $15 in credits so far and used them to buy digital music. I wonder if amazon still pays the artists for a purchase using their credits the same as a regular purchase?

It's BS. Well maybe not if you buy mp3s via Amazon. They are offering you something that cost them nothing except CTRL+C, i.e. digital content to cut down on the cost of something that will actually affect their bottom line (shipping costs). It's a brilliant plan, actually. IP is where the $$$$$$$ is at.

Just found this as there is a lot of conflicting information out there...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo...deId=201537730

"Offer expires at 11:59 p.m. PT March 31, 2015."

So seems any credit you have right now is good till March 31st. But that is for credit earned after 11/7/14.

So it last a little longer but still does expire.

I don't think it expires in 30 days -- I thought it was 60 or 90.

Yea looks like it might be up to 90ish days now. Still kinda short.

Knowing this, what's stopping people from splitting separate items into separate orders and getting $1 for each?

The credit also applies to books, videos, and their app store IIRC.

That's exactly what I was thinking - I bought half a dozen things last week. I wasn't in a hurry to get any of them; most are still sitting in the boxes they were shipped in. So, I could have still ordered them from Amazon, been satisfied with getting them in 4 days, and get a "free" $6 item that I otherwise wouldn't have purchased.

"Free" - yes, I know it's not exactly free - I pay for Amazon Prime. But, just because I have prime doesn't mean I absolutely need every one of my purchases to be here in 2 days. Sometimes I need the expedited shipping; other times, I couldn't care less.

I took the offer twice this month. Credit is good till March 31st. So roughly 75-90 days depending on when you order.

It's only $1 per order but as long as you don't have any $35 minimum requirements to meet you can split up your orders and get $1 for each. Then Amazon ends up combining the shipping anyway. Win-win.

Doesn't make much sense but here are the ToC

No-Rush Shipping Terms & Conditions

If you received your credit from the No-Rush Shipping program on or before 11/7, different terms apply.
Offer expires at 11:59 p.m. PT March 31, 2015.
Offer only applies to Amazon Instant Video, Amazon Digital Music, and Kindle books sold and delivered by Amazon Digital Services, Inc. (other than certain limited Kindle book titles and select Amazon Instant Video titles).
Offer does not apply to physical goods.
Digital content and services may only be available to customers located in the U.S. and are subject to the terms and conditions of Amazon Digital Services, Inc.
This is a shipping offer related to your Prime subscription; it is not a discount on items purchased.
Amazon reserves the right to modify or cancel the offer at any time.
Offer is non-transferable and may not be resold.
Offer discount will be allocated proportionally among all promotional items in your order.
If any of the products or content related to this offer are returned, your refund will equal the amount you paid for the product or content, subject to applicable refund policies.
If you violate any of these terms, the offer will be invalid.
Unless an Amazon Gift Card is the stated benefit of the promotion, promotional codes (including those placed directly in accounts) may not be redeemed for Amazon Gift Cards.

So the offer expires on 3/31, does that mean that you wont be able to get the credits after 3/31, BUT, you can still use the credits that you accumulated after 3/31?

but in another place it says,

Choose FREE No-Rush Shipping and we’ll automatically apply a $1 digital credit (applicable to eBooks, digital music and videos) to your account once your order ships.
You can use this credit by logging on to Amazon.com or browsing your Kindle device. Find an eBook, Amazon Instant Video, or Digital Music that you want to purchase and we’ll automatically apply the credit at checkout.

This No-Rush credit expires on March 31, 2015. Terms and Conditions apply.

Confusing as hell, probably still wont use it anymore...

Nothing.... As long as it isn't an add-on item($25 requirement), you can buy just a bunch of stuff individually and get the credit for each of them.

This -- sometimes I go ahead and do the credit (which I'm pretty sure lasts longer than 30 days) just to spur myself into getting a rental or maybe a book. But the 2-day shipping is so nice, it means I don't need to leave the house to go shopping, so I usually keep it.
