Amazon Primenow

Lifer
Just got an email about a discount of first primenow order. Guess it's opened up in my area. Can't think at the moment of something though i'd need to order and get today over regular 1.5 day delivery.

I have noticed my last few Prime orders show 3-4 day guaranteed delivery.
I chat with support and they say "It was mistake, we fix issue." and my delivery is updated to true 2 days.

I wonder if they are increasing delivery times on purpose to save money and see if anyone complains, or if it is a true mistake.

It has happened on my last 3 orders.

Like last night, I ordered some Prime stuff around 10pm, and it showed a Delivery Date of Monday.
I placed the order anyway.
I chatted with them and they updated it to Friday (what it should have been).

I would love PrimeNow.

I've placed 5 orders over the last week and none of them have had any issues with standard Prime 2 day shipping or the $3.99/item one-day shipping.

Unless it's something I really need, I don't mind the occasional screw up for an order that slips a couple days. Just send a WTF note to support and they usually tack on a couple free days to current subscription.

I have used Prime-now a couple of items. One time I needed a USB DVD drive for a laptop that I was re-loading the OS from scratch. It was helpful that within a couple hours of ordering it was at my door. Didn't need to run out to Best-Buy, Frys etc. I also Prime-now to get my wife a new heat pad for her back. The old one broke and she thought she would have to do without for a couple of days until I got a new one. She was pleasantly surprised when the replacement showed up in a couple of hours.

Definitely seems slower. They used to regularly ship the same day I ordered. The modem I ordered at noon today won't ship until tomorrow, and they don't count tomorrow as part of the shipping time. So I'm looking at Monday.

They gave me $50 for a prime now order or something when it first opened in my area. I bought a bunch of random stuff just to check it out lol.

I prime now all the time. If I want something, I can have it sent to my office in the next two hours and take it home. Only issue is the app sucks and it is app only. Plus, they don't have everything. My boss prime nows soda to work a lot, but we drink a lot of soda here.

Did you do 1 hour or 2 hour delivery time?

Was it on time?

Good question, I chose the free option which I think is 2 hours? I was at work and didn't collect the package until like 12 hours later. I didn't want to use Amazon Prime Now but the $20 discount was too enticing.

After reviewing my e-mails now I remember what happened. I ordered the previous night for delivery the next day within a 2 hour window, they delivered within 21 minutes. But again it didn't matter to me since I wasn't there.

Good comment!

Thanks.

I used it a couple months ago- was working from home and a monitor crapped out on me- had a new one w/in an hour or so. It was pretty slick- you can track your 'driver' as it's being delivered so can see exactly where it's at. I haven't used it since, but pretty cool service to know is available if needed.

And they deliver wine/beer which is cool.

If you haven't noticed by a couple post I made in other subforums, my motherboard nic port died. While getting ready to do a regular amazon order, decided to load the prime now app and since they had one in Stock local (which in itself I found mildly amazing), I have a pcie network card due at my door in 1-3 hours. On the little map that loaded after my order, given how close the place is I wouldn't have minded driving there and picking it up.

This is kind of like what Time Warner does with making "mistakes" with charging for fees sporadically (like a modem lease fee when you own your own modem and always have). If you call them on it, they correct it. If you don't catch it, free money for them. Everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Well, about 90 minutes after hitting place order, had this at my door.

Only bad is that the app itself somewhat slow to give updates. Saw a couple updates flash by before the app updated and didn't realize at the time that these were texts (also using a new phone and not totally used to it's differences).

Not bad all together, basically paid a "tip" for the ability to get it 5 calendar days before regular prime would have delivered. Would be interested in seeing what their on hand stock for this type of stuff was.

Don't have this in my neck of the woods, but, if I could get stuff that fast, that would be really cool.
Who was the courier? Was it like a uber driver that does primenow deliveries on the side?

I noticed that regular 2-day prime shipping in my area now includes Sunday delivery, so if I order something on Friday it will be delivered on Sunday at no additional cost.

Assuming so, some guy in what looked like an older thunderbird type chassis carrying a sealed primenow paperbag. Since they 'recommend' tip levels as part of the payment, figure it's sometype of contract type person that probably operates via app similar to how uber does drivers. In this situation, I was happy to give the $5 tip for that much time shaved off the transaction.

When I'm feeling really, really, profoundly lazy... I use PrimeNow for groceries.

When I'm feeling really, really profoundly lonely and depressed I buy myself something. Anything. Prime Now lets me have it in hours instead of days. And it makes me feel whole again. Something new, shiny. Until the next time.
