I too signed up as an internet family back in november for $16. And let me tell you, I wouldn't even hesitate to pay $80 anymore. I absolutely love it.

You really do get your items in two days, sometimes less depending how far the distribution center is. Amazon has cheap prices on most things... no tax, nothing. I can definitely say my purchases at amazon increased quite a lot since I've had prime. Before I'd make a purchase about once every two months. Now I'm making purchases at the average of 2 times a week. Sometimes it's small stuff and sometimes not. It's always nice to but something that's cheap and not pay more in shipping costs than what the item is actually worth.

Also, there's some amazon marketplace dealers that ship via prime as well. Most notably warehousedeals.com. I mostly buy "used/damaged" books from them dirt cheap (8 dollar paperbacks for ~2.50) and they're usually brand new but with a corner bent (whoopdee doo).

If you're in a rush, you can pay 4.99 for shipping and get it the next day. The only downside is, is that they charge this per item, not per order, as amazon often foolishly splits multiple item orders into multiple shipments.

You know, I'd probably save money on buying useless filler items too..
