I've done that too! Which speaks volumes to Amazon's organizational coding of their website. I would guess they have the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" attitude since they make money hand over fist as they say.

It's not that. It's just that Amazon allows any seller to list any item on the website. So it becomes clanky and junky as lazy sellers don't properly categorize or put multiples of the same exact item.

I generally filter through items on a different website (e.g. Newegg for computer parts) and then search for a specific product on Amazon.

I hate that I have to do this too. Amazon's iPad and iPhone apps are terrible as well. I only use them when I'm checking on the delivery status of my orders. I usually do everything else through a regular browser.

I've never really liked going out and shopping. The last time I was home, I tried to explain to my Mom why I pay for a Prime membership when there are probably 2 dozen Targets/Walmarts/etc... within 10 miles. How does spending less money (usually) and getting it delivered to your door for free not make sense?? :D

Sometimes Prime doesn't matter... Other day I bought similar item, that cost less for item + s&h than the item + prime eligible.
I wasn't too happy to see auto renew was selected by default after I did the trial of it.

Prime eligible?
Tell me what it was.

Seconded

I have noticed that even though things are sold by different sellers the prime eligible ones state "fulfilled by Amazon" on the product's page.

There is an option as a seller to send the items you have to Amazon and have them deal with the shipping. That's what this is.

Search again for the items you're buying. Many times there are multiple vendors and only some of them are Prime eligible.

To add to this, I've often seen where the default seller of an item is another company while Amazon is still an available shipper of the item, meaning it will definitely be Prime-eligible and most likely cheaper as well.

As successful as the Amazon Prime product is, I am surprised newegg hasn't come up with something similar. Another benefit of prime is the 5000+ movies and TV shows that are free to members for instant streaming. If they only had them organized better...

Thanks! I was (obviously) not aware of this. I wonder how long newegg has been offering this. Anyway, here is a link for more details and a free 30 day trial at newegg if anyone is interested. I took advantage of Amazon's free prime 30 day trial to get my laptop delivered next day for $3.99 (two day would have been free) and ended up using it enough to justify keeping it.
