Amazon Prime Instant Video: Worth it?

Instant video isn't that great IMO, and I dumped prime because a lot of the stuff I buy from Amazon ends up getting drop shipped from 3rd party vendors, so majority of my orders weren't even Prime eligible.

I guess it's worth it if the only place you order anything is from Amazon directly and not their 3rd party distributors. Even without prime I usually get the delivery within 2 days (with the cheapest shipping option), so it doesn't really make a difference to me.

So, two questions.

1. As of Nov 11 you guys were saying that the streaming selection of Prime wasn't good. Any better now?

2. How good are Kindle Fires as tablets? ie wi fi internet browsing etc?

I'm considering a lot things here, the shipping for one, the free kindle book per month, the Prime streaming selection is the tipping point one way or another I think.

1. I think the streaming selection is "ok", but having netflix, I never watch the streaming on prime. From what I can tell, most if not all of what amazon has is on netflix.

2. My wife has a gen 1 fire and she loves it. For me however, I am not impressed. I have an ipad and after checking out her fire I just don't like it for browsing. Nowhere near as smooth and responsive in terms of browsing and general usage. The newer ones may be better, don't know. I'm not knocking all android tablets, I'm just comparing the gen 1 fire to my iPad 3. I know I'm comparing a $200 device to a $500 device, but I just don't care for the feel of the fire. I think I'd definitely try it at a store or something and try other android tablets if you're wanting to stay around $200. You may even find the fire to be more than acceptable, I'm just giving my two cents.
