Amazon Prime, FTL.

What to do?

  • Delete/hide my $1500 in spending from the wife.

  • Send to the accountant like a good citizen.

  • Procrastinate until I forget about it.

Got an email from Amazon. How did I order nearly $1500 worth of stuff from them. Damn Prime is too easy.

Hello from Amazon.com,
As you may or may not be aware Amazon.com LLC is not required to collect sales or use taxes in all states, including the state of South Carolina.
The South Carolina Department of Revenue requires us to provide the following notice to you:
You may owe South Carolina use tax on purchases you made from Amazon.com LLC during the previous calendar year. The amount of tax you may owe is based on the total sales price of the items you purchased during the previous calendar year. The total sales price of only purchases you had shipped to South Carolina in 2011 was $1489.14. This is the amount that you may include on your South Carolina income tax return to calculate the appropriate use tax owed unless you have already paid the tax. While Amazon.com LLC does not report this information directly to the state of South Carolina we are required to provide this information to you based on South Carolina law Section 12-36-2691(E)(3).

The question: Delete so the wife doesn't find out and want to know how I spent $1500 while at work or forward to my tax lady like a good citizen should?

So the state doesn't know? Delete.

.
According to the email. Think deletion is a good possibility.
Flag as spam, grow a set of balls and wear the pants in the family
Damn good advice. I feel them descending right now........

Holy Crap. This is what a stance of dominance feels like.:awe:

Pants? Real men wear kilts.

Here's the real spam I got.
An earlier e-mail was sent to you without a reply. I am David Santos an independent Financial Advisor and a Banker to (Mark Wade) a national of your country who died on August 8, 1999 plane crash in West Africa. My Client was an expatriate and the head West Africa Civil Engineering Group. I am happy to inform you that after several attempts to locate my Client relatives/family members, I found you bearing the same family name with my Client.

I will like us to discuss about My Client finances and estate worth $2.5 M USD with us. My client account will be declare unserviceable by my government in 7 working days because he did not indicate any next of kin (He died Intestate) and since then nobody has ever come for the funds. I am seeking your consent to present you as the next of kin of my client so that the proceeds of this account can be paid to you for the safety and subsequent disbursement since the funds were left behind without any written will or next of kin details. Your telephone number is also necessary for further discussions.

Yours faithfully
David Santos

"An email you say, what email? and what are these taxes you speak of?"

Speaking of which, I just realized my Amazon bill has racked up a wonderful $2,600. That's not bad considering I'm one of those people that would buy alternator sized deodorant pack of 6s from a website.

Pics of wife?

Pay your taxes, do the right thing. btw, unless you bough $1500 worth of stuff for your mistress why the fvck r u worried?

Amazon prime is like COSTCO or Sam's to me, but I don't have to drive and the membership is much cheaper (I have 1/2 of amazon student).

That 100 pack condoms of would be questioned.

This like my employees asking me whether they should report their annual cash tip intake on their tax return. Which is never.

As soon as i got a 1 year membership for being a student i started to spend a ton more on Amazon. I even buy a lot of smaller items like food seasoning because of the free fast shipping.

Amazon prime completely changed the way I shop as well. I base a surprising number of my purchasing decisions on "is it on amazon and eligible for prime?".

When they amazon starts selling hookers and blow? Is prime eligible?

For $3.99 they can be delivered by tomorrow. Just make sure you're home for the delivery or fedex will throw that shit on your doorstep. Then you'll trip over a dead hooker who ODed on too much blow trying to get into your house. Wonder if fedex insurance will pay for that, since one product was damaged and the other is missing...

Interesting to see Amazon send out such notices. They are correct of course in stating that you owe a use tax to the state. Theoretically, you owe the state the same amount for a purchase whether it's from Walmart.com or Amazon.com. But since Walmart has a physical presence within the state, SC can require it to collect and remit the use tax owed by the consumer. SC can't force Amazon to collect and remit, but it has apparently required Amazon to give consumers notice of the use tax obligation.

But if people don't want to pay taxes then they definitely aren't voluntarily reporting their purchases to the state.
