The biggest disadvantage is not all items on Amazon have Prime. Sometimes it is a chore to find a certain item with Prime so you can just get free shipping.

This what sucks so much about it.

Most items that are sold by Amazon have Prime, and even some that are sold by third parties have Prime. There are some product categories that Amazon.com doesn't carry at all, and you won't find Prime items in those categories.

Not really a lot of the time you limited by selection when using just prime. A lot of the time I find myself wanting a item that is even better than the same item with prime. It is the same thing just better features.

Yeah really, everything I said is true. What you're describing rarely comes up in my experience, and would vary from person to person. The OP can do some searches of the types of things he wants to buy and figure out for himself whether it'll be an issue.

Ok I will give you a example right now. Name anything you buy on Amazon. It doesn't matter what.

That is what I did last year right on here. Easy cheap way to get it.

I tried the free 30-day trial of Prime. It was awesome. I couldn't justify spending the $70+ on it, since I don't buy that much, but it was definitely nice.

When it says free two-day shipping, that means that it will literally be at your door within two days of when you click that Submit Order button. 🙂

Pretty much sums it up for me too.

I tried the 30-day trial when I bought a new pair of New Balance shoes a couple of months ago. I placed the order just before noon on Friday, they were delivered before noon the following Monday.

If I bought more from Amazon, I could justify the cost, but since I rarely order from them more than once/twice per year, it just doesn't make sense.

Yes, not all of them are backpacks but only 4 out of 3 of the items can be used with Amazon Prime. Sorry but that sucks.

There should be a way to have all their items offered for Prime. It would be much more worth it.

Exactly.

The only nice thing is it tells you when you have to order it by so you can get it on that day. I wish all websites did that.

Umm, every TMNT backback is prime eligible.

You do realize there is no way Amazon can offer prime with 3rd party fullfillment, right?

Put on your business cap and think it through.

I love prime. It doesn't speed up processing time as far as I can tell. It really seems to only matter for shipping.

Most items from amazon ship within 24 hours, so that + 2 day shipping you can get the items usually within 2 business days depending on what time/day you order. Some items do take longer, I ordered a bluray that had an estimated ship date of about 1-2 weeks. It really has taken 1-2 weeks before they shipped it.

Fortunately most stuff leaves within a day, so it hasn't been an issue. It kinda sucks, but then again, I'm in no rush to get it or I would have grabbed it in stores.

Try that with items that don't even have prime. There plenty. Most don't even have it or there is a limited selection. Hate being forced to pick a item that has prime but I prefer the one without it.

This has only been the case for me when I've been looking for really really specific things (like a specific regional brand of shaving cream). What makes prime great (at least for me) is that they offer practically something of everything with prime. Sure some items that are on the site aren't eligible - some of them even coming from amazon.

But anything I could and would buy at any consumer store is eligible. And the fact that if I wanted to I could purchase some really obscure or out of production item that people have listed up on amazon and pay shipping I see as something else that's there. I don't know what percentage of the site is prime eligible, but I'd wager at least 85% of their stuff is and 95% of the things I want are.

There's is nothing better than something like for me: Shaun of the dead is on sale for 2 bucks. Two days later I had it for 2 bucks. Didn't have to find 23 dollars in filler, I just purchased it.

You didn't put your business cap on. What if it's a small business that needs to cover their shipping because they don't have huge contracts? Or if they still pick and ship orders by hand, gotta cover the labor. There just isn't any reasonable way for amazon to force somebody to abide by their prime policy, it would cost amazon too much business if they did so.

BLASPHEMER!! This is ATOT. Common sense is banned here. (although not Common Courtesy...he does the banning) 😛

be careful, last time the mods got upset when everybody tried to look for their family members here to join prime together

HATE Amazon Prime - signed up for it last year when I was ordering Christmas presents for my family, and then realized it only gave free shipping on half the stuff I had ordered. I cancelled it right away and got a refund.

Your right.

It's impossible to answer this question. Why does it matter though if it speeds up processing time. What you shuold care about is the time between you submit the order and the time it arrives at your house. With free shipping, this can take anywhere from a few days two weeks (I have experienced even a month). With Prime, it's two days from the time I order. Would it make you feel better to know that for Prime they process in 6 hours and with free shipping it takes 4 days on average to process? I just made that up. The point is, who cares.

pcslookout - your argument is so silly. I order from Amazon at least 3 times a month and I have to work pretty hard to find something that is NOT offered via prime. What are you trying to order there? Bulk beef? I have a feeling you purposely go there to look for stuff you know they'd never carry just to have something to be upset about.

That's what I was trying to get at with my first response, but you were much more explicit and clear. If you look on any product page it'll tell you how soon you have to order to get the item by a particular date. If you order by that time, you can count on it arriving by the specified date.

I average 2 orders a week. :Q Some of those are Amazon Marketplace orders though. A significant majority of everything I order is available with Prime. Amazon.com is not Home Depot + Best Buy + Macy's + etc, etc. It doesn't have everything in every category, but it has a good selection in most categories. Better than Walmart, that's for sure.

so this thread is proof that they don't immediately process orders that are placed with free super shipping.
those usually take at least 3 days before UPS picks them up.

yeap - that multi-day processing is what made me weary of prime to begin with. Since they don't seem to do that with prime, I signed up and saved about $12 in shipping so far today - I can see this adding up.

No one has ever claimed anything different. Supersaver orders have the lowest priority.

Not at all. I had where I wanted a certain item but I had to pick from others to be able to get prime. Sucked.

i always wondered and now i know for sure.
no complaints really, amazon is still awesome in my book.

actually, it's a good thing if i'm not in a rush... i have a few days to cancel if i have buyers remorse or find it cheaper elsewhere.

Love it. But i found i end up spending too much at Amazon now with the free 2 day shipping. Damn them to hell lol

Thats the biggest problem. Just imagine if one day shipping was free everyone who had amazon prime would waste even more money lol.
