Amazon Prime - does membership shorten processing time too?

I've noticed that my Amazon purchases sometimes take forever to process, not just ship.. Would prime shorten that time too?

Any prime members recommend signing up or passing?

Signed up for prime the day I posted the OP. Outstanding experience with prime. Processing time is included in shipping estimates and I've already made my money back (and then some). Sold 2 prime memberships for $17 each and gave the rest away, making X-mas shopping a little easier for family members.

I love my amazon prime membership. I have no idea the normal processing time. I know that when I ship the standard 2 day for free, I get it in two days 99% of the time. And if I order with 1 day shipping I have always gotten the item in 1 day.

I tried the free 30-day trial of Prime. It was awesome. I couldn't justify spending the $70+ on it, since I don't buy that much, but it was definitely nice.

When it says free two-day shipping, that means that it will literally be at your door within two days of when you click that Submit Order button. 🙂

Not sure about processing time, I don't think it changes though. I love my prime. I split the cost with work and my brother. I've placed 22 orders and my work has placed 20 in the last year. not sure how much my brother has. But anyway the free 2 days shipping and occasional 1day have been very useful, especially at work. I also got in at a time when it was cheaper than the $79, think it was $49. I will be renewing it in Dec. Well my work probably will.

I :heart: Amazon Prime.

What I save in sales tax alone (11.5% here in downtown Chicago) far outweighs what I spend on the membership. Even with the default free 2nd day shipping most stuff ends up showing up next day.

If by "shortening the processing time" you're comparing it to super saver shipping? Then the answer is yes. With super saver they'll often take 3-5 days before they even ship your item (not always, but they can, its the downside of it being free). But with 2 day, it'll always ship that day (or tell if its too late to ship that day) and 99.99% of the time you'll receive it 2 days later.

What I like most about Prime is taking advantage of Release Date Delivery for video games. The game is guaranteed to be at your doorstep on the day of its release and this method is no additional cost for Prime members. I've pre-ordered games in the late afternoon on the day before they come out and still have them arrive at my doorstep the next morning. :thumbsup:

There has only been one time in ~200 Prime orders that I haven't gotten my purchase within 2 days. They almost always ship it out the same day.

I'm sure that is reliable, but it's funny that the one time Amazon failed to deliver my package on time was when they guaranteed release day delivery of Halo 3: ODST. I ordered it a month before release.

Amazon requires that they be actual household members. You're able to get away with scamming them, because it would be impractical for them to require proof of your relationship. That doesn't make it right.

Amazon Prime is well worth the $80 it costs. Don't be a scammer.

The biggest disadvantage is not all items on Amazon have Prime. Sometimes it is a chore to find a certain item with Prime so you can just get free shipping.

I love prime. It doesn't speed up processing time as far as I can tell. It really seems to only matter for shipping.

Most items from amazon ship within 24 hours, so that + 2 day shipping you can get the items usually within 2 business days depending on what time/day you order. Some items do take longer, I ordered a bluray that had an estimated ship date of about 1-2 weeks. It really has taken 1-2 weeks before they shipped it.

Fortunately most stuff leaves within a day, so it hasn't been an issue. It kinda sucks, but then again, I'm in no rush to get it or I would have grabbed it in stores.

Most items that are sold by Amazon have Prime, and even some that are sold by third parties have Prime. There are some product categories that Amazon.com doesn't carry at all, and you won't find Prime items in those categories.

When you're searching or browsing through a store - in their guided search on the left side one of the criteria says "Prime Eligible". That's what I click on. It then only displays prime eligible offers. They'll still have the "Prime Eligible" logo next to the price/rating and when you go the page it'll display it too.

I just assume anything used or from third party won't be eligible though sometimes the orders are fulfilled by amazon which is nice cause then it will be.
Usually the price of it used+shipping = prime new+shipping give or take a couple bucks. And I figure that couple bucks is worth it for faster processing/shipping than the used copy.

I love prime. Many times I've ordered something at 6:00 pm and had it the next day. I rarely go anywhere else other than amazon.

Try that with items that don't even have prime. There plenty. Most don't even have it or there is a limited selection. Hate being forced to pick a item that has prime but I prefer the one without it.

Not really a lot of the time you limited by selection when using just prime. A lot of the time I find myself wanting a item that is even better than the same item with prime. It is the same thing just better features.

Yep but that still limits your selection by a lot.

I agree though with paying a few extra couple bucks for new and faster processing! One thing that I noticed that always has prime, most of the time, is dvds and blu rays. Though if the movie is foreign sometimes you must get it from another country like the UK because there was no US release of it ever. Then you can't use Prime. Plus sometimes the PAL DVD is better than the NTSC.
