Amazon prime and 2 day shipping

With Amazon prime free 2 day shipping, is everything you buy that is prime supposed to have 2 day shipping? Here lately, it will take 5-6 days to get something. Getting things quicker is one reason I use Amazon over other sites.

As long as it is prime eligible (not all items are, but a massive portion of the site is), then yes - it is to be 2 day delivery.

If you have had more than 1 or 2 issues, if you open a ticket to complain - often they will issue you free months for prime. Not a lot of value if you only use prime for shipping and this is your primary concern, but if you use other services (Prime Video for example), then there is at least some value there.

Either way, I'd suggest complaining if you are referring to Amazon prime eligible items. Also I don't know if it's possible, but if there is a way to set your default shipping to something other than Prime, then that may be the culprit.

Seconded what Tweak155 said. You should be getting two day shipping on Prime products (note that not everything on Amazon is Prime eligible though). I wouldn't complain, personally, if it once in a while was over two days, but anything above just occasional I'd inquire with customer service. I've always been very happy (with the result) when dealing with their customer service but of course that's just me.

I have had a few issues with this. The first time it happened, I did contact them and they gave me a credit on my account but has happened since as well. And yes all the items I buy are prime eligible. I want to be clear on something, does the 2 day shipping start the moment you place the order or the moment they ship it? Also should the location matter for 2 day shipping? I have tried to look up the fine print for prime and did not find any or maybe I was looking in the wrong place.

I have always made sure prime was selected when placing the order. I do use prime for other services as well like music and video.

Lately "prime" has meant free shipping here, more that "2 day".
Many things I've purchased that were "prime" were not available for 2 day shipping at checkout, yet all items that are "one day" arrive on time.
And several times when I "selected" a delivery date, it meant nothing.

I'm fortunate to live near a distribution center, so I get free one-day with Prime most of the time. You can sort by Prime only on the left bar, like in the screenshot below. Certain Prime items do take more than 1 or 2 days, but it usually tells you on the product page. Like, I just ordered a barn door kit for my kitchen...I think it took 3 days to deliver. Still "free" under Prime, but the box was 70 pounds lol.
