Amazon Prime $68/yr Friday Sept 23 NOT HAPPENING

"If you have a grandfathered account (where everyone gets two-day shipping), be aware that letting your prime lapse to redeem this will end the 4 person sharing and you will not be able to get it back."

Probably, but was a bit sneaky that was on default.

Yeah I hate that. I need to figure out when my Prime expires and if I can extend it with this upcoming promo?

I don't care about losing the ability to "share" 2 day shipping with 5 friends/family.

It's funny, I'm punishing Amazon for various things, and basically buying things I want I think they lose money on, but they are making that possible.

Today I got a 19.2 ounce Reese's bag for $5, which would be a good sale price for the local market, but they shipped it overnight in a foam-padded package with cold ice things. They lost money.

Same here!

Over a lb of Reese's candy is not good for your life.

Prime get you shipping on most items, movies/shows, music

It's worth it for the shipping alone. I have a family of four, shopping from the phone or pc is so much better than bringing your kids to the store.

Thanks op, save me 30 bucks if I can get this

I have student prime and it was a pita to get some of the streaming services back after I let my standard prime account expire beforehand.

Anyone know how long it takes your account to expire after you cancel? Sounds like it's several days and if I cancel today, wouldn't be able to get in the sale on time.

Guess I need to mark my calendar for Next year's emmy sale.

Mine expires on 9/25 and I was all set to renew at $99. Can I buy this before my normal renewal date for that price? Wonder how that works ...

Edit: Guess I should have read the Q&A first. Looks like the promo won't work for me 🙁

You have to admit, prime is going downhill overall.

They tossed in the "Prime Pantry"... with the whole "Fill up a prime pantry box and only pay $6 for shipping! (even with a prime membership)"... What the fuck? How stupid are you?

Then they put "add on items" to make sure you order other shit.

I predict as we go along prime will get worse and worse as they continue to offer less and less that you can order on the fly with 2-day shipping.

A lot of people say when sales like this happen (and they already have prime) they simply do an IM with customer service and say they would like to renew under the current price.

Q: How do I get the $68 discounted price?
A: You must have an account which does not have active Prime status. If you are the primary member and your Prime is still active, or if you are a shared member on someone else's active Prime, you can't get the $68 price. Your only options are to remove the shared member so he/she no longer has Prime or to contact Amazon and beg them to cancel your Prime immediately.

So if I'm a current Prime and active member I can't get the discounted price?

But they taste good on ice cream.
Reeses? They are OK. Recently, I'm liking Mars' Dove, I've had the Dark Chocolate and Dark Chocolate Almond. Each is ~0.29 ounces, individually wrapped in foil with some witty saying on the side of the foil. For American chocolate, it's fantastic, easily the best I've ever tasted. They come in ~8oz bags.

I'm interested in this Prime offering. Never signed up, once went for the 30 day free, I've resisted doing it since, I always seem too busy to pick up on the videos, so I hold off for when it would matter more (i.e. approximately never). I may sign up tomorrow, though. I do a lot of Amazon shopping, am in the habit of saving stuff for later and adding it in to make for the $49 minimum for free shipping. I have a big package coming tomorrow and one today with just one item.

I'm thinking my sister is probably a Prime member, maybe I could get a tag-on with her, but I'm hesitant to ask her, I think I'll just get my own.

You have to cancel Prime and hope that the membership expires within the dates of the sale period, so that you can open a "new" account at the discount price. It seems like it takes several days for it to expire, though.

Is customer service usually good about giving this to people? I bought under this deal last year (as I'm sure many did.) Funny how they space it out like that.

I signed on to Prime a year ago for $69 (first Prime membership) and I set a calendar reminder to cancel (because I can't justify the price) which came up today. I bet their last Prime deal came up on the 24-27 last year just so I'd have to pay $99 for the renewal. But then again, I have two accounts so just maybe...

I'd love to use their Kindle lending library and that would help justify the price of Prime however, the only way I can borrow books is if I have a Kindle device (which I don't). If it were allowed on iOS, then maybe $99 would be worth it. I am not even so sure $68 is worth it since I don't buy much stuff from them.

That's what I did last year although mine had renewed 10 days before the promo so they refunded 90 and charged 70. Mine is up on the 25th as well so I guess ill try it.

What if my "wife" signs up for Prime, but then all "our" purchases will be split across two accounts.
Unless you are using your order history for accounting or trying to hide the reason why money just "disappeared," there is no harm in it.
