Amazon Payment for new Lenovo T440P

HOSED

Senior member
I recently ordered a custom T440P via Lenovo's site. I used amazon check out (Jan 9). I changed my mind and tried to cancel the order (it has not shipped yet). I called Lenovo who told me I must take delivery then do an RMA. I called Amazon who said they can not cancel it but Lenovo can, and they sent them an email. My CC has not been charged yet. Does anyone have any advise as far as getting this canceled? I want to order a Dell m4800 ASAP but do not have sufficient funds nor CC limits to purchase both. Thanks in advance😡

If your CC hasn't been charged can you see if the CC company can deny the charge? If Lenovo can't charge your CC you can bet they will cancel your order. Good luck.

Thanks for the quick reply Bird222, I called the CC company and they said they will remove the authorization but this could take 2 business days??
I am a novice at ordering via internet (I have only done it twice). On second thought guess I will head to Best Buy for a new laptop now.
That was a great idea!

:awe:Check this out, I called Lenovo AGAIN and was told (I recorded it) that "this is a big hassle" I should take delivery & arrange a return but do not open the box. Why would they want to build it, ship it, then pay to ship it back ???
I long for the 20+ years I had a job in Tech support and never had to pay for a computer

what are the specs on the t440p. I was looking into buying one but my gf may veto that as I probably have 10 laptops in the house at the moment.

It's because when using a third-party payment processor like this, Lenovo has the risk that they cancel your payment and Amazon doesn't do what they need to do. Worse that the payment is cancelled and the item ships.

People play this game all the time. Order up a high ticket item, use a third party payment and then play them off on each other.

Purchase the other computer and see which charge goes through first.

That's mighty helpful advice. 🙄 He said he didn't have enough funds for both!

Actually, I like this idea. If there's not enough money for Lenovo to charge the computer when it's built, they won't ship it. Plain and simple.

If it does get shipped, I would simply refuse the delivery and have it sent back. This will take quite a while to go through the system though and get your funds back.

Thanks to all for the input and great ideas. I am a veteran of the NBR forum, so in the parlance of that crew +1 rep to all! I was not sure if I could fit in here (this is the big leagues after all) but you have all made me fell welcome.
BTW I chose HOSED because Hosea was already taken.

I think you need to take responsibility for your actions here.

Enjoy the computer. Lenovo's are pretty decent.

What's wrong with HOSER?

A miracle has happened, after calling the CC company and canceling the authorization, one last phone call to Lenovo resulted in an order cancelation. I am happy
