Is dead island goty worth the bother?

You'll get a lot of varied answers. IMO, yes. I enjoyed the game for what it was. It has some problems and after around 75% of the game you just kind of want to finish it but it was fun nonetheless. You could hold out for a year or two and wait to get Dead Island Riptide. It is suppose to be Dead Island but pretty much the same and improved in a lot of aspects.

I also quite enjoyed Dead Island, it isn't GOTY material - but it was a fun diversion for a couple of weeks. I've only played the original, from what I understand riptide is more of the same.

There's a few games on that list I've found to be unavailable. At least when you go through the usual links to get to it. How can a digital download be unavailable? It's not like you run out.

Now that I've gotten a vpn, I've bought BF3 + Bioshock 1+2 pack. Now I just have to found out if it will activate on my steam account.

Bioshock 1+2 codes worked fine on steam. I guess the BF3 code is an origin code, as steam didn't recognize it.

BF activated fine on origin. Yay!

I just realized something. Amazon has a downloadable copy of Manhunt 2, which is currently on sale for $7.50. I remember they decided to stop selling this game a couple years ago, but somehow Amazon distributes it now.

Manhunt 2 for PC is kind of special. It's the only video game in existence to be given an "Adults Only" ESRB rating purely for violence and gore (see the AO badge on the Amazon product picture). This classification was usually reserved for porn games or sex games.

It was a big deal when it came out back in 2007; the game was developed for consoles as well, but because Sony and Nintendo wouldn't allow an AO game on their systems, they forced Rockstar to censor the execution scenes so it could be re-reviewed and bumped down from an AO rating to an M rating.

The PC version, however, is mostly uncensored, and it still has the AO rating. It's not a very note-worthy game otherwise... the gameplay is average and the graphics aren't much better than the console version. But if you want to experience a controversial piece of gaming history, I think it's worth checking out.

Edit: Looks like the price will actually go down to $3.75 on the 29th if you're willing to wait.

IIRC, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas also received the AO rating. (or at least one version did)

Nevertheless, I'll be checking at Manhunt 2 at that price.

That was only after it shipped, and it was for sexual content. It was re-rated when the Hot Coffee content was unlocked by a modder. It shipped as M and once modified was back to M.

That is tempting... since I didn't get any of the card bundles. First big discount?

I think so, I've been wanting it. I'm guessing that it'll be in the same time frame as Skyrim for huge discounts, since both were fairly popular and well received.

I ended up picking up dark souls, mass effect 3 and bioshock infinite. Does anyone have any advice for getting the most out of dark souls? I know there was a fix for the texture resolution but I wasn't really sure of anything else.

1: DSfix (fixes the resolution, adds a few graphical tweaks)

2: Xbox 360 gamepad (the game was not designed for mouse and keyboard)

Those two things are all you need. Have fun.

oh shit...is Bioshock Infinite still on sale or is it over?? 🙁

Wasn't it on sale for $34? You can still buy the AMD codes for $20-30, and you also get Tomb Raider and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

crusader kings complete pack
bioshock 2
hawx
mass effect 3
hearts of iron 3 complete
dead space 1 and 2
deux ex human revolution

think i have enough for the next 6 or 7 months

If you like fun, arcadish flyers with a little depth you'll have fun with Hawx. It was a tri-monitor showcase game and still looks great that way.

I think Hawx and Hawx 2 are underrated games.

Ah, Hell. This thread made me go back and look at the sales, and I couldn't resist NFS:The Run for a fiver.
