Not free, but $8.99 a month

I'm giving the free trial a shot. It doesn't seem to work with the Starz app. Although it works fine through Amazon's.

My cable company kept giving me showtime and starz for free for a couple of months. Totally not worth it to me. If it was included free, that's cool, but I certainly wouldn't pay an additional $9 a month for them. Just my 2 cents.

It's not free if your cable company is charging you $90/month or whatever.

Cut the cord, buy your services piece by piece, you will save money.

I just got all the premium channels added for doing a 2 year contract but still nice to have on prime as well. Really looking forward to the day when I can just cancel my TV package and have internet and streaming.

Dish has run "freebe" periods for HBO or Starz or Showtime.

Maybe watched one or two movies, but they offer so little, mostly older stuff, and you can't watch it on your schedule, I won't pay the extra $ for any of them.

That's pretty awesome. Pushing competition on the cable/satellite providers is never a bad thing. I'm not sure they cared much when HBO, Showtime and Hulu started offering options. Amazon entering that game may give them something to think about.

Don't have DISH, so not sure if it applies. I get Starz and Encore with my cable company, and they have a free Watch-on-Demand section where you can watch any of the movies that are currently running at anytime.

Just to add: when I first moved into my condo, I pretty much lived without cable tv until the hockey playoffs started. I discovered that my HD antenna wouldn't/couldn't "tune" in NBC. I was out the door signing up for cable tv service almost immediately.

I sure would use Prime video more (and paid services like this) if they'd allow it on Chromecast or Plex :(

Another thing amazon prime added was music. The app works great on my phone and in my car. I find even more value in that where I didn't have to renew my Sirius/XM music subscription, and don't need to use Pandora anymore.

Comcast has given me Cinemax and HBO for 2 years as part of loyalty program. All it really did was convince me to never give a penny for either.

That's why you get a DVR, so you can watch any TV on your schedule.
During free weekends, I generally find 2 movies worth recording. (And those movies are basically repeated the next week, so why bother subscribing)

I've been wondering about the prime music thing, having prime myself but subscribe to google music (since it started so only 7.99). How is it compared to the other paid services?

It's pretty good overall. I usually only use it when they do a 'listen for entry' contests though. While the app is decent, other options have better catalogs. Microsoft Groove and Google Music have a much bigger selection.

I've been listening now for a couple months on Amazon, and I really don't spend much time listening to music since my commute to work takes about 10 mins. I ended up buying a blutooth speaker, so I now listen as I get ready for work in the mornings too.

I'm starting to notice a lot of repetition on the "station" I currently listen too. The app though has a bunch of different ones to try out like the various decades, genres, artists, etc. It saves me 15 bucks a month compared to when I subscribed to Sirius/XM and Zune before that.

Since I have Starz as part of my package, would I still have to pay? The Xbox app for Starz had me register on a website. Wondering if its the same on Amazon...

The cable I know charges something like $50/month for Starz. If Amazon can bag these channels for $9... Who needs a $200/month bill?
