Amazon is getting into everything. I predict they'll eventually dwarf Microsoft and Apple given how diverse and driven they are.

Nitpicking: Amazon is not in the ARM CPU business, but in the ARM SoC business. I don't think they'll be developing their own CPU's. The previous Annapurna chip (AL-514) was using Cortex-A15.

BTW the EETimes says "Annapurna was acquired, before it had produced product, by Amazon in January 2015". This is misleading given that Synology already had announced the AL-514 based DS2015xs by end of 2014 with availability in March, so the chip definitely was produced before Amazon bought them :)

i hate amazon, they are a bad business partner that will stab you in the back in two seconds. unfortunately they can buy their way into any market. ill always avoid them if possible. bezos is a psychopath. i was happy to see their phone fail

I could see Amazon making a OnHub competitor, but combining it with the Echo to make a "living room friendly" device that not only gives you the 'best signal' but lets you use Echo features. I bet it would include prime too, to promote buying items from Amazon, which seems like the main use of the Echo to me.
