Amazon finally releases video streaming app for Android!

Holy sheet. I actually thought this day would never happen.

This might signal that Amazon is ready to fully give up on the phone market (big surprise, right?).
 
I saw the update notes for this this morning. Bout time, Amazon. I guess the total failure of the Fire Phone hit home?
 
Does it require streaming of content or can it down files to the device for later viewing?

I just gave it a try. I do like that Amazon has combined 3 of its apps into one. You have the Amazon shopping app, the app store, and now the instant video apps all together. Music is still separate.

As expected, you can't download or cache offline movies that I can find.

Edit: apparently it's phone only for now. the tablet version does not have instant video (yet, hopefully).

Works on my S4. Hopefully it works on the Note 4 when I get that. Amazon Prime Video was pretty much the only reason I was keeping my iPad around.
