Here is the reply I received from Amazon:

. . .
Thank you for writing to Amazon.com.

First, please accept our apologies for any confusion you encountered when
redeeming your promotional certificate.

It appears you were able to redeem this certificate to your account, but
due to a technical error, it was not applied to the order.

Because your order has already entered the shipping process, I am unable
to apply the certificate--instead, I have issued you a refund in the
amount of $5.00 in lieu of the promotional certificate. You should see
this transaction reflected on your next credit card billing statement.

Again, please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience. We hope
you enjoy your order--thanks again for shopping at Amazon.com.

Best regards,

Tajinder?Ghuman

This board is gravitating towards anything and everything goes. THIS IS NOT A HOT DEAL. Edit your message and ask the mod to lock

$5 back sounds like a hot deal for me. This is a hot deal for people who had their gift certificate canceled and never brought up the issue with amazon or who for some people this is the first time they notice their gift cert didnt get applied.

Everything and anything? This DIRECTLY relates to a hot deal. It's annoying how people feel the need to thread crap just to see their total posts go up by one so they can wet themselves.
