Hello,

I'm sorry this promotion wasn't applied to your order.

To correct this error, I've reduced the cost of your order by $100.00. The price of your Xbox 360 Arcade is $99.98.

For your reference, here is the cost details for your order:

Subtotal: $99.98
Shipping & Handling: $9.48
Total Promotions Applied: - $9.48
Tax: $0.00
Order Total: $99.98

I hope this solution works for you. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

:p

I put mine in the cart the second it hit 12:00PM. Then took a screenshot of the cart showing -0.01 because I knew some BS will happen. What do you know, confirmation I got in the mail didn't show the discount. I contacted them, they got back to me within a couple of hours, saying they need a day to figure it out. A few hours later they emailed me and said that it will take 2 business days to make the decision. This morning I got this email:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello from Amazon.com.

Thank you for your recent purchase of the Xbox 360 Arcade console. Your order qualified you for a special promotion we were running that entitles you to a $100 promotional code valid towards a future purchase from Amazon.com.

The $100 promotion does not apply to the purchase of the XBox 360 Arcade itself, but is valid for a qualifying future purchase. For additional details of the promotion, please see the following page: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1000450541

Your promotional code will be sent to you via e-mail (along with instructions for use) seven (7) business days after the qualifying order has shipped.

Thank you for shopping Amazon.com.
Sincerely,

Customer Service Department

So, I'm happy :) I wouldn't mine them just slashing the price of the console. But I got in on the deal because I shop on amazon all the time, so the GC will be gone the day I get it.

Maybe I should have emailed them instead of just cancelling. Mine had the code in the cart as well, but the email didn't have the code applied. O-well.

Yea, mine didn't have the code so I just canceled it. It was still listed as available when i ordered. I emailed them about it and they basically said 'sorry, too slow'

I actually DID cancel my order.

I decided to e-mail them after later got the cancellation notice.

If you have original e-mail with actual Amazon order, they might let you reorder and request price adjustment.

I think main thing is that your actual order went into their system during the Gold Box promotion when discount codes were still available.

not worth the hassle IMHO, I didn't need one anyway and i'm sure there will be later deals for one.

I put the lightning deal in my cart the moment it showed up, but it showed that I did not get the deal when I got my order confirmation. So I canceled it. I just contacted customer service and they sent me this:

"Hello Greg,

I do see where your order was qualified for the promotional Lightning Deal.

We hope you will be able to take advantage of our next promotion and to see you again soon.

Please let us know if this e-mail resolved your question:"

That's nice. You were qualified for the deal. Too bad.

I sent another e-mail, hopefully they will let me reinstate the order.

Got an e-mail from amazon:

I've reviewed our previous e-mail with you, and I'm very sorry about the misunderstanding.

You did qualify for the offer to receive $100.00 promotional code. Unfortunately, we are unable to reinstate an order that has been canceled.

You are welcome to return to our website and place a new order for the Xbox and let us know the order number by visiting the below link. We will then forward your message to the appropriate department for issuing the $100 promotion code. The $100 Amazon.com promotional code will be sent to you via e-mail within 7 days of the day your order ships out to you.

Looks like Amazon just sent out a generic e-mail for the Xbox 360 for anyone who placed a valid order registered in their system during their Gold Box promotion:

Hello from Amazon.com.

We noticed you cancelled your order# (deleted) originally placed during the Lightning Deal promotion for the Xbox 360 Arcade console on November 7, 2009. If you cancelled your order due to problems with the promotion, we want to make sure you can take advantage of this deal if you're still interested.

If you order an Xbox 360 Arcade Console by 11:59pm PT on November 14, your order will qualify you for the $100 promotional code. The $100 promotional code does not apply to the purchase of the Xbox 360 Arcade itself, but is valid for a qualifying future purchase. The offer is limit one per household and is not transferable.

To order the console, go to the product’s detail page listed below, add it to your cart for $199.99, and check out as normal. Please note, Amazon.com must be the seller in order for you to qualify for the promotion.

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Arcade/dp/B0029MAXS6

Your promotional code will be sent to you via e-mail (along with instructions for use) seven (7) business days after the qualifying order has shipped.

For additional details of the promotion, please see the following page:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1000450541

We're sorry for any inconvenience and hope to see you again soon.
Sincerely,

Customer Service Department

I do believe they will need to have a record of a cancelled valid order during their promotion time period for you to qualify.

Go Amazon!

:)

I got the same email, so I placed my order again. We'll see if it goes through this time.

Was able to get in on this deal - thanks OP! - and my console is expected to arrive today. :)

I've been out of console gaming for good 2~3 years.. lol. How vital is to have hard drive for the unit? I don't foresee using it anything other than profile/game saves on mine. Would the built-in memory (I think it has 256mb?) be enough for it?

I can't believe they're still charging $200 for a 360 without HD. The Arcade should have a 20GB HD and the Pro should have an 80GB.

*shrugs* It's still the popular current gen console, and a lot cheaper than it used to be. It's the perfect price point IMO.

For me this is perfect, as I have an original 2006 vintage 360 that I have had to 'repair' at least 5 or 6 times (opened it and did it myself, it is the GPU having issues), and I am sick of dealing with it...

This way I take hte hard drive off that unit, put it on the new one and use a HDMI cable and I am set...

On the *bad* unit I may just end up modding it with a new GPU heatsink, some channeling around it for better airflow, and replace the fans with some better CFM ones... Should cost all of $10-15 or so and then I'll just put it in the boys room for them to play on... If it dies again I always have the new one in the front room for them...

Oh, I may add, I also got in on the lightning deal, added it to my cart at exactly 12:00:00 pst when it popped up, spent 1.5min typing in my credit card info, and then got a confirmation without the lightning deal on it... Called, canceled, and bitched them out... Talked to a supervisor who said he would forward this issue to thier marketing department...

Last night I received the same offer to buy it online and they would send me the redemption code for $100 for a future Amazon.com purchase... So I ended up ordering it today...

Now, if I don't get a code within 2 weeks, I will be MORE than a little pissed when calling them... This much hassle, regardless if it is a deal in my favor, is uncalled for... Especially when they had a loophole that allowed others to basically steal an item out of your cart during checkout...

mine shipped today but I haven't gotten my promo code yet.

I haven't gotten mine yet either but I did email Amazon to confirm I was getting it. They confirmed that I am.

Hello,

I'd really like to help you with this.

I've reviewed your orders xxx and yyy for the XBox 360 Arcade placed through our Gold Box Lightning Deal offer and verified that we sent you an e-mail message indicating your order qualified for the promotion.

You'll receive a $100 Amazon.com promotional code via e-mail within 7 days of the day your order ships out to you. The $100 promotion does not apply to the purchase of the XBox 360 Arcade itself, but is only valid for a qualifying future purchase.

this was a sick deal Gillbot. A jasper 360 for $99; outrageous.

This will be the 7th or 8th 360 I have owned; 3 of which died (1 RRoD, 2 bad graphics). Excited to get a nice quiet Jasper to replace my Falcon Elite.
