I believe that is just the UK affiliate of Amazon doing that.

There are still well over 2,200 reviews on the A dot com site, which I think is about right.

The DRM hasn't been an issue for me, and I'm enjoying the game. :)

I actually perfer creatures being stat based as opposed to depending on the number of limbs you have. Otherwise the "best" creatures would all look like freaks.

I think there needs to be a happy medium.

I also woudl'nt like it if you had a small worm that was stronger than a huge dragon or something, but I also wish there was something in the middle.

I see no problem with Amazon removing reviews from people who have not purchased the game nor played the game and only reviewed because of the perceived negative impact of DRM.

well, a better way to do it would be diminishing returns the more you have.

the game is okay the first few times playing it. the last stage kinda sucked. i made my ship to look like enterprise, and that's the best part.

Those comments should not be removed, they show that customers are pissed over the DRM and spread the word to the ignorant masses.

Edit - It apparently gets worse for Spore's DRM. Firing Squad

EA Spore forums

Great job EA, you take what could have been the first original game released in years, what could have been a phenomenally addictive game, and destroy it. EA does that well though.

Do you think they should also remove all of the 5 star reviews from over 2 years ago? Since those people made their reviews based on watching a video.

The reviewers were upset as it was with EA and DRM. But what really has set people off was Amazon's decision to remove all reviews which was a poor smoke screen of getting rid of the negative.

Perception: Amazon caved in to EA and I don't care how they attempt to spin it the damage is done.

Update: The power of the consumer's voice has come through. Amazon has reposted the reviews -- all of them.

The UK and German sites removed them on purpose, apparently the USA site was just a glitch of some sort.... i dont buy that at all to be honest but its what amazon.com are saying.

UK site has put some reviews back up, dont know if its all of them though and it looks like amazon.de has put theirs up as well.

Well thats not the problem, they removed ALL the reviews and left one 5 star review up for a while on the UK site and DRM does have a negative impact, if you support DRM enjoy getting screwed by it whilest the pirates get a superior product for cheaper lol.

Don't want to be a Spore basher, but I feel even if they removed all the DRM reviews the game would still rate pretty low. I don't know how the game review sites (big surprise I guess) give this game a lot of breathing room. They're really overall generous with their critiques and scores, when other games who have minor issues would drop 10% / grade for each nitpick.

Amazon has been getting some heat lately, I wonder what's up with them. (Non Spore related) I still like shopping there since they have a quick turn around time and Amazon prime is lifeblood for impatient people like me.

yes, they should remove all reviews from peopel who didn't buy the game. It is just stupid people trying to bring down something just because they don't agree with it. Stupid and childish.

There are other ways that posting a fake review.

I agree. This is why I pay little attention to big reviewers as they give high scores out to almost every hyped up game. The DRM displayed in Spore is not the answer to pirates as they had the game out before it was even out in the US, IIRC.

Amazon has been going downhill for quite some time. They have recently (as of Sept 1, 2008) removed their post order price guarantee with only sending an email to a very, very select few informing of this situation. But this is for another conversation. :)

So what is this game really about?

All I've gathered so far is that there are 5 stages and the entire single player game is short, like a few hours long only.

And the graphics are mediocre along with very kiddy style cartoon creatures.

Then, for MP, I'm even more clueless of what you would. Do you just battle each other? That sounds really boring especially after watching some single player videos of the "WoW" stage, if of course MP is going to be like that.
