To be compatible with the actual apps in the Amazon App Market. Many of the apps are Tegra only.

This could be a big thing. I know that my Nook Color really appeals to people. Add in Amazon's superior market (compared to B&Ns) and a decent GUI and this could be a winner.
 
Amazon and B&N need to define whether they're making tablets or e-readers. Making full blown tablets puts them into direct competition with Asus, Samsung, Apple, Acer, etc. Its fierce.

E-readers can be in impulse buy price range and serve as a vehicle to sell more books. I love my Nook First Edition, but I'm not going to buy a new e-reader every year.
 
I wonder if this means the books will be higher quality.

I use Kindle app rather then buy books of iBook store, but theres no getting the way from the fact that the iBooks are better quality, they all come with full colour covers and if you read fantasy books the maps are reproduced, I presume up until now the Kindle downloads have never need to be so finally optomised with it just being e-ink, but now they will have to.
 
Bah I hope they continue with the eInk ones too.

I love my Kindle 3, small, light, battery lasts ages, does the whole ebook thing really well.

Sucky 8 bit interface but you dont often have to deal with it, not enough to make me switch to a tablet.
