Amazon 50$ Credit for HD DVD purchasers

Got this email from amazon.com today. Looks like they are following suit with Best Buy.

Dear Amazon.com Customer,

As someone who purchased an HD DVD player from us before February 23, 2008,* you might like to hear about a special offer available from Amazon.com.

New technologies don't always work out as planned. We at Amazon.com value our customer relationships more than anything and would like to support customers who purchased these players by offering a credit good for $50 off any products sold by Amazon.com.** Just use promotional code xxxxxxxxx when checking out. The code is valid through April 9, 2009, so you have plenty of time to use your credit. Purchases from third-party merchants on our site are not eligible.

Yup, got mine earlier and posted in OT a while ago. This almost makes up for Toshiba not sending me those free hd dvds.

First I've heard of that ... also I bought my A30 from Amazon & ahvn't seen any e-mails yet.

Coco: Just keep waiting, not sure when you bought your HD-DVD player, I bought mine in November, and just last week got the free DVDs by some third party distributor who may be honoring the deal.
I just got my email, Captante, so just keep checking it, and make sure you check bulk folders too, the e-mail looks like spam and may be perceived that way.
A lot of Walmarts are now offering to buy back the HD-DVD players if you have the receipt, which isn't too bad of a deal if you want to get something else, don't think they will go for a $50 GC tho, even though they are probably the one place that can give them away and still have no loss in profits 😛.

I got mine in late OCT, still no hd dvds yet. Bums me out.

I'm still waiting for my HD DVD's as well..

They said they shipped it a month or so ago but I haven't received it, so I had to wait 4 weeks from their initial ship date to call back and get another shipment shipped out.

HOW LONG COULD 5 HD DVD'S take ? Are they using PONY EXPRESS?

Got mine today, and bought a few classic PS2 RPG's.

I like my HD-DVD player....it's plays HD-DVD (duh), but it's also a great DVD upscalar for my regular movies. Plus I have my PS3 for Bluray. 🙂

Is there a purchase window to get the $50 gift card? I bought mine realllllly early 🙂

Best Buy and now Amazon gave this credit/refund type thing which is awesome. Now I just want Buy.com to do it so I can get a credit

I purchased mine in August 2007, and I got the $50.........

I assume that we need to get the email or is this something that I'd have to contact their support department about? I haven't received the email yet (purchased on May 28, 2007).

EDIT: I just saw that there's a promo code included in teh email posted by OP 🙂

Got mine last December...no $50 email as of this time.

I just called Amazon customer support & mentioned I hadn't received the e-mail notification of my $50 ... they immediately apologized & applied it to my Amazon account no questions asked.

I was already happy with my A30 after Amazon matched the price down to $127 (plus threw in 3 additional HD-DVD's) but now that my effective cost is only $72 I wish I'd bought more then one!

Amazon customer-service gets a big  from me!!! 🙂

I did get mine eventually - bought the HDA2 last November, and just got the 5 free HDDVDs about a week ago.

I just got off the phone with customer service. They said I was issued a code but it looked like I didn't get the email. I checked my spam, trash, etc, no email. He then gave me the code, I tried to input it, and it didn't work. He then tried to apply it to my account adn it didn't work saying that the fact that I didn't receive the email and that the code didn't work may be related. He said he's sending my 'case' to the internal marketing group to reissue me a code.

suxx

Just emailed customer service to remind them that I need that discount so I can already buy my 9600 GT card.🙂
