Amazing Portrait

I don't believe it.

edit:
According the artist, 99% of the painting was done using airbrush, while other techniques involving colored pencil, x-acto knife and eraser were also used, especially to add realism to fine textures of the skin and hair.

That's a little more believable.

How the hell does that prove anything? More than likely he took a photo, and then use photoshop to REDUCE the quality.

i don't understand why people link to digg or slashdot rather than to the article.

And who the hell paints half a face as perfect as they can... leaving the other half of the face completely blank? I have absolutely zero skills with painting, but i know enough to know that this is BS.

Heck, almost all magazines use airbrushing these days.

No. Wrong. Magazines airbrush pre-existing photographs. This was made from scratch. Talk about misleading statements.

Airbrushing obviously make it look a lot more photo-realistic than normal painting tools could ever hope for, but this is still a very impressive achievments.

What's the difference in airbrushing breasts bigger than airbrushing a breast from a blank sheet? You're just doing more of it.

'Impressive achievement'? I guess it really depends on the person. Personally, i would be more impressed if they created a woman completely from their mind rather than copying a photograph.

very talented but somehow im left feeling like his talents are being wasted or something.

you still end up with a regular photo 😕

Read the link coinz posted, the artist deals with that criticism specifically.

I bet he took picture and painted backwards

maybe...

enough hours and you can make alot of stuff look pretty good...

This was featured in a magazine. Really, the link that coinz gave should be the one everyone goes to because it addresses most of the criticisms here. For example, the one of the points of the photorealism is to do "photos" that would be impossible. He seems to specialize in aircraft and does scenes where it would not be possible to recreate in real life.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I think you are confusing this with this.
