MADE IN INDIA .

NOW, THAT'S A SWITCH.

IMAGINE RUNNING A CAR ON COMPRESSED AIR @ 125 MILES FOR $2

The Compressed Air Car developed by Motor Development International (MDI) Founder Guy Negre might be the best thing to have happened to the motor engine in years.

The $12,700 CityCAT, one of the planned Air Car models, can hit 68 mph and has a range of 125 miles. It will take only a few minutes for the CityCAT to refuel at gas stations equipped with custom air compressor units. MDI says it should cost only around $2 to fill the car up with 340 liters of air!

The Air Car will be starting production relatively soon, thanks to India 's TATA Motors.
Forget corn! There's fuel, there's renewable fuel, and then there's user-renewable fuel! What can be better than air?

Check it out yourself and see - What A Cool Car! Enjoy! :)

This six-seater taxi should be available in India this year -2008!

The thought of seeing a big ass version of the air hogs motor in the CityCAT made me LOL.

If that were the case I bet that thing would be loud as hell :Q

Repost from a while back. It turned out that it's all hype. Compressed air contains little energy compared to gasoline.

Edit:

If you even bothered to look at the graphics on the page you linked to, you would have seen that they say that an 87 liter tank of compressed air is equal to 2 liters of petrol. There are 4 of them, so it carries around the energy equivalent of ~2 gallons of gas.

The range of 125 miles on 2 gallons of gas isn't really anything special on an econobox with a top speed of 68 mph.

Also, they claim that it's "renewable fuel" but compressed air is not fuel at all. You need to compress it with something, and that compression takes energy. This is energy storage not fuel.

Basically it's nothing new and hyped up by a bunch of idiots.

And the car looks like ass.

They've been making claims for more than 10 years, including many claims of cars ready for market.

Maybe GM could license the technology, and install a gas powered compressor to charge the tank!

So what happens when a full one of these gets in an accident? Boom! Big boom!

So instead of a 12v lighter socket you get a compressed air accessory socket for inflatable rafts, mattresses, and blow up dolls?
