Amazed Cat first time in car

Yeah it's real. Have you ever seen how long it takes for a cat to get used to something new when it's not changing at 60 miles per hour?

We use pet carriers when transporting our cats so they don't see much. We had one cat on a multi-day cross country move. Day two she decided she had enough of the carrier and wanted out. So we let her out so she could see what was going on. We were traveling at ~60mph across west Texas. She crawled out of the carrier and climbed into window to look out. It took her at least a full minute to process what she was seeing after which she dove back into the carrier and didn't make a sound for the rest of the trip. Apparently being caged was better than dealing with the reality of moving that fast.

I remember once I had to transport my cat on a flight cross country with a pet carrier. I wonder how they would react if they got out and realized they were traveling hundreds of miles per hour. (cat already was terrified at the point since he was constantly meowing on the plane)

My cat made no less than 2-3 cross country trips from Washington to California and Kansas. He hid under the passenger side seat the whole time except to get out and eat, drink, or take care of other business.

Amazed? It looks like it's scared to death to me, but whatever. Feline panting is most commonly caused by anxiety and fear.

lol I brought my cat in the car a few times, she loves it. Makes me kinda nervous she starts going at my feet though so I put her in the kennel usually.
