The italian justice systems seems so screwed up.

If it stands think the US would send her back?

It sure is. the evidence against her is so fucked up. Also they have a guy who has admitted to it and said the two had nothing to do with it. BTW that guy is serving time IN JAIL for the murder.

not that it matters. knox is staying put in the US

No one is touching her.

And, she should stay away from the EU for the rest of her life.

What a stinking mess.

It is highly unlikely she will be extradited. I believe it falls under the US' "Double Jeoprady" law.

But was she declared innocent?

Double Jeopardy law only comes into place if the court/jury cleared her.

Is that what happened the first time?

doubtful. All the evidence is very shady and the fact they also have someone who is in jail and admits to it.

So what? That's very common. Hell, people admit to murders they didn't even do.

It sets an interesting precedent. I presume the US has an extradition treaty with Italy.

I'll go the opposite way as waggy. The evidence is pretty convincing, and it seems highly likely that Sollecito and Knox did it while Guede was present.

Are you saying that because you're Italian or just don't understand that the evidence is horse shit?

she was found guilty. then on re-trail found not-guilty and was allowed to leave the country. Then they retried her and found her guilty yet again. she gets to appeal that yet again.

So Yes she it would be under Double Jeopardy.

I don't see that at all but the big questions is why? what was the motive?

Drug satanic frenzy, please.

I believe she was found not guilty, then after the fact, the Italian Supreme Court ruled it a mistrial. They then held a new trial (without her present to defend herself) and she was found guilty. I believe the US will not extradite her, however, I am not sure if the Double Jeopardy clause would cover her, as there was only one example I could find and it involved a trial being declared "illegal", as it was held a town in Dakota Indian territory when it was illegal for non native Americans to settle there. I'm not entirely sure, as I am not a lawyer.

Betting we have officials in the Admin who believe extradition treaties overrule US law.

No, it's what happened the second time. She was convicted, then aquitted, then convicted again. Wrap your head around that.

I have no idea whether she likely did it or not. A lot of people seem convinced that she didn't, but I've never seen any kind of dispassionate examination of all the evidence, so I refuse to hold an opinion either way.
