AM3 mATX Recommendation

recently purchased an amd x3 740be from newegg and was wondering which board for overclocking i should pair w/ it. was looking at the msi 890gxm, but seems like people been having problems with it, so looking for an alternative. i rly like gigabytes bios setup, so im partial to the, but im open to suggestions. ty

do you have a need for onboard graphics? If not, the less expensive 870 will be sufficient.

I heart my MSI 890GX, don't know what all the fuss is about. Using it to run my OC'ed 1055t too.

D'oh! I completely forgot the thread title.

Apparently Newegg doesn't sell any 870 or 770 based MicroATX boards, so an 880G based board is going to be your best bet. Here's a Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 for $95. It only has the SB710 though. If you want the SB850, you need to spend $5 more on the GA-880GMA-UD2H.

The 5870 prices are approaching "clearance" levels now. Stock is being cleared out for the arrival of their 69x0 replacements. Don't count on being able to buy a 5870 new in a year's time. Anyway, by then there will be replacements much faster than 2x 5870.

Obviously this applies to any GPU. Thus it's not worth paying extra for Crossfire/SLI gear.

Show me a deal on a 5870 cause all i see are $300+ which is something im not looking to spend on a gpu

The msi 470 gtx for $158 amir bf was a deal didnt grab it cause it doesnt fit in my matx case.

All your options right there, I think. I would not xfire a mATX board, just because the heat is incredible when the cards are griding up on each other.
