I built an AM2 system for a friend, and yes they are different. Unless his mobo came with a non-standard mounting bracket.

I finally left s939 and went LGA775. I'll miss my AMD :(

I am utterly confused... does anyone know if the Cooler Master X Dream k640 heatsink will pair with the Athlon 64 X2 3600+ ?
The box and the Cooler Master site seem to be giving conflicting messages... According to the Coolermaster product information it may be used with "AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 3800+ ~ X2 4800+ and higher."

Thanks..

What are the rules on posting email promo codes? Their latest email had one that knocked down the OEM price to $73.

You may post:
Links to coupons on the issuing vendor's own site.

http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail/Ma...-2007/Promo032207in/index-landing.html

Supposedly you will have to sign up your account for their newsletters or you won't be able to use the promo codes, but right on the page "click here to subscribe and redeem these codes."

Don't forget the Paypal code (again right on the page) to knock $10 off shipping.

I need your opinions on the motherboard combo deals that the egg is offering with this processor. I'm looking to build a budget PC for my niece. Gaming is not an objective. Video encoding is.

She most likely also requires Firewire from her VidCam

These would be a great fit, rock stable and simple to assemble. Savibf a few more $$ is possible but stability is also what you are paying for with these 2

Umm.........correction - No video encoding, so no firewire necessary. This PC will be used for DVD viewing, music listening, audio/mp3 cd burning.

So again i'll ask, which of the motherboard combo deals would be good? Onboard video would be good, and onboard audio a plus.

I believe if the coupon code is at newegg.com website and make available to all... then its okay to post "THE LINK", but not the code itself.

BTW, China market should hit US$70 by April (retail box)... its not rock bottom yet...

That is EXACTLY what I did, but my other thread got edited and locked. The codes are clearly on Newegg's site, and right on the page with the codes it says "sign up here to use them." They are clearly welcoming everyone to sign up to their newsletter and thus be able to use their codes.

WTF?

GIGABYTE GA-M61P-S3: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813128034

Will DDR2 667 work with this board, or is it compatible with DDR2 800 only?

That's rather arbitrary. Guess someone got trigger happy...
