AM2+ overclocking question

Back in the day, one had to decrease the HT multi in order to keep it under 1000 (S939) or under 800 (S754). Recently, I was perusing the specs on a Foxconn 780G mobo. It says, "2600MHz Hyper Transport (5200 MT/s)". Does that mean that because the mobo supports faster HT speeds, that I could drop in an AM2 X2 dual-core chip, and crank up the speed WITHOUT lowering the HT multi, assuming that I don't exceed the mobo's max of 2600? Or is the limitation in the CPU as well?

I think it is CPU dependent. E.g. the X2's have a lower Hyper Transport spec than the phenoms when you shop for them. I've read recommendations to keep the HT for X2 systems below or around 1000. I guess this corresponds with the X2 Hyper Transport rating of 2000MHz (which i guess is twice the HT rating of your mobo, for the two cores?)

You can go up higher, to about 2000Mhz pretty much before things start locking it seems. My 5000+ x2 i ran at 285FSB and never touched with anything but voltage on my 790fx.
