For those that don?t want to read. Here?s my question, "Will AMD release the k8l for the AM2 socket? Or only the AM3?
------------for the rest of us------------
Any who, my daughter?s computer totally died (psu blew-up..enermax... theres a first), board, chip, ram, even the hard-drive! Which means i get an upgrade
I am having a hard time deciding. After some research, I sill would like some incite. AM2 gives me an upgrade path. But no current performance difference. Maybe some in the future, but none now. s939 has no upgrade path. But is cheap. all of that has been discussed.
The only real benefit for am2 is if AMD makes the k8l for it. But from what I have read it appears only to be coming out for the am3 platform. I really hope they stop switching sockets so fast here. Its very annoying.
So, if I go am2 I will be going with a min of PC6400 (ddr2 800). I also must buy with in the next two weeks tops. You try dealing with 17 year old and no net.....omg....I might die
