AM2 FSB?

Does the 2000 Mhz FSB in AM2 give any advantage over the 1000 FSB in 775 vs conroes?

What exactly is this FSB value and wat does it represent?
 
Front Side Bus, or communication between the southbridge (or northbridge?, forgot which one 😛) and cpu. In AMD architecture, the whole FSB technically doesn't exist.
 
The Front Side Bus is the link between the processor and the Northbridge. It is how the processor talks to everything else.

Socket AM2 products do not have a traditional Front Side Bus; they have a HyperTransport link instead.

HyperTransport is quite good. But there are many, many other factors in comparing performance between the various Socket AM2 products and the Core 2 Duos.

When all is said and done: read some comparison tests.
 
AMD uses Hypertransport to connect to the Northbridge (northbridge connects to the rest of the system, ie HDDs and GFX), and has a direct link from CPU to Memory.

Intel uses a FSB (front side bus) to connect to the Northbridge, which then connects to Memory (and of course it connects to all the rest of the system too).

AMD's advantage is when you have a bunch of HDDs or GPUs and whatnot; because AMD has two busses it doesn't get bogged down so often because the memory can't take any bandwidth from the rest of the system, and vice versa. Also (and this is the main thing people talk about) having a direct CPU to memory link lowers latency because it's a shorter path from CPU to memory than CPU to Northbridge to memory.
