AM2 Crossfire?

The MSI boards are already available for (and being) reviewed. They don't seem to be very exceptional boards. I would recommend waiting for the DFI or ASUS, personally. There's a review on HotHardware today, I believe.

Gary indicated that the DFI and ASUS should arrive in the same timeframe.

Ohhhh man, I'm ready to snatch up the DFI. I don't care if it's $250. 😛

Keep us updated. If the timeframe changes, let me know so I can plan around it. 🙂

Well the ASUS board is on ASUS's site and is indeed stating AM2 3200 w/ SB600 might be why it was delayed so they can have an all-in-one ATi chipset.

Update: the ASUS website is now showing the M2R32-MVP, but it's not the "deluxe" version. Looks rather bland, I think. Too bad, I really want an enthusiast board with a decent black PCB.

EDIT: man, this sucks! This version of the ASUS board is really wimpy. Only one gigabit lan, no 8-phase power, "ASUS brown" PCB, 8 USB instead of 10... this sucks arse. Come on, ASUS, get your act together. I want an enthusiast board!

this is better news than previously, i couldn't even find THIS board on their site just a few days ago (of course i'm a jackass)

if the 'standard' version is now being promoted, hopefully the 'deluxe' is right around the corner... stay vigilant... GUNS UP!

Good news, everyone!

"Asus is telling us to expect review samples late next week. That is all we know currently. We are expecting the Deluxe version for review." - Gary Key

Expect the ASUS M2R32-MVP Deluxe motherboard to be available in retail within the last two weeks of this month, if everything goes as Gary expects.

Looks like I'll be going back to college computer-less for a few weeks. <sigh>

Ugh, more like Asus yellow. I don't like that color PCB, but if it's the only one out, I'll take it. 😛

Does Gary know an ETA for retail for the DFI?

I'm waiting for the Deluxe, myself. No DFI for me (I'm an ASUS fanboy 😛).

DFI still has the same ETA as ASUS, AFAIK. (He didn't say anything about DFI)

MSI Support sucks. I asked them for an ETA on the K9a Platinum, and they asked me what I meant by ETA. =\

Well jeez.. not everyone can keep up with the newer words in english. Especially over in India lol

Edit: After seeing the price for a Conroe build i have decided to come back to my Native AMD home. However now im becoming frustated with the fact that you cant get any Crossfire boards yet. Hopefully that Asus one that was mentioned will be released soon. Im dieing to get my hands on a crossfire solution

i'm with you, i plan to get the dell 24" lcd so CF is a must... i'm a little lucky at the moment, however, because i don't quite have all my money ready for the upgrade just yet... hopefully the ASUS deluxe version is ready and waiting once i do 🙂

... ati, how i loathe thee and thou chipsets

(did i say that right?)

Edit: how long it's taking them to come out, not the actual chipsets

Are you sure you want to get a less-than-perfect board, just because it's cheap and available right away?

I'd wait on a better board... DFI or ASUS. It looks like MSI's offering this time isn't so hot.

The review on HotHardware seems to say "mediocre".

Well, I'm on a tight timeline. If nothing else is out, then I may have to go for it, or, sadly, go nVidia. 🙁

It's the cheapest AM2 board I've seen in Canada it's got all the basic features to get
me by until the serious AM2/ATI boards hit the market.

But I really don't know at this point. It's so much easier to just commit to nVidia.

I dont mean to offend you but where on there do you see Crossfire? ATI boards without crossfire are everywhere... we are looking for crossfire boards.

I know.

But I believe one suggestion was to use the ECS Crossfire board
temporarely until the higher end boards are out, especially in
Canada.

Sure this board doesn't support Crossfire. But I doubt some of us
here are willing to fork out $150 on a 'lower' end board to use
until the Asus or DFi boards are finaly available.

well if you can wait a week the Asus will be available. Thats why we are waiting so we dont have to waste money on a crappy board that we wont use more then a few months. The way i look at it is, a temporary motherboard is a waste of money. I would rather wait a few more days and buy a real board thats going to last a year or so

I can't find any ATI AM2 boards except the ones discussed in this thread. I don't care about Crossfire; will you please direct me to the non-crossfire ATI AM2 boards.

Well D&H (distributor) still doesn't have them. They should have them before eTailers will, so I'll keep you posted.
